Breaking the $100k barrier - A new statement Loudspeaker for $50k

Four shows in four months, and it's a wrap until the fall. Damon and I are excited about the October New York area THE SHOW, where we will feature the Ultra 7's for the first time since Munich 2024. However, we are thankful to have our feet on the ground for the next few months.

First, Damon and I had the pleasure of meeting no less than a dozen WBF members at the show who made it a point to introduce themselves. To all, it was great putting a face to your posts! Damon and I also met a dedicated group of WBF members from France at our suite in Munich, which was a pleasure as well.

Here are a few photos of our room with Scott Walker Audio from the show featuring the VR.thrity in a handsome Ferrari Grigio Scuro gray finish. Our thanks to the SWA team, who, if I'm not mistaken, had five rooms on the Hilton's main ballroom floor, which was a significant effort to display their vast array of top brands.

We hope to see you back east in the fall!

Damon and I enjoyed a wonderful few days visiting with our newest Von Schweikert retail partner, Jamie Pauls of The Audio Experience, this week. While there, Damon presented his usual Master Class in loudspeaker set-up, installing the VR.thirty Foundation, in Aston Martin Desert Bronze, which looked tailor-made for Jamie's listening room. An MSB Reference with Digital Director and MSB's smaller monoblocks did the honors; however, Jamie also had the opportunity to pre-demo a pair of Westminsterlab Rei's monoblocks (also running balanced direct into the MSB amplifier). Our own MasterBuilt Reference II bi-wire speaker cables and power cords completed the circuit. This was our first time hearing the MSB streaming module, and we were impressed both with its simplicity and sound quality.

We are now building a pair of VS model One speakers for Jamie's second sound room. Anyone in the Chicagoland area interested in hearing how well a set of VR.thirites can perform (on their own or against other top loudspeaker brands TAE carries) shouldn't hesitate to get in touch with Jamie at The Audio Experience in Palatine, IL.

Very nice clean looking system setup. Apparently 10 foot or greater speaker separation in a good sized listening room. It must provide a very spacious and open sound.

You all need to hear things with the MSB Cascade. Makes the previous MSB dacs, including the Select 2, irrelevant...

Greg, we used the Cascade at THE SHOW in California several weeks ago with the same speakers. Unfortunately, other elements of the system did not allow us to hear through to the Cascade as we would have liked. I did, however, hear the Cascade at the 2024 HE Munich event with Magico speakers and was super impressed. Now back to Von Schweikert Hope to see you later in the summer.

Very nice clean looking system setup. Apparently 10 foot or greater speaker separation in a good sized listening room. It must provide a very spacious and open sound.

When Damon and I arrived, they were even wider apart; however, Damon felt we were amplifying some sidewall room nodes, so he moved each speaker in by about 8" and problem solved. That said, the image was wide and deep in their final resting spot as well as well set up VS speaker can be

For those who are curious - the room measures 16' 5" wide x 21' 5" deep with 8' 6" ceilings. The speakers are just over 10' apart tweeter to tweeter. This is my first time hearing vonSchweikert speakers in my showroom and I am blown away. Honestly the best sound I've ever heard. Can't thank Damon and Gary enough for their time.

Your speakers don't appear to angled in. Mine are very, very slightly angled in. Could be the Ultra line have superior soundstaging and better dispersion than VR speaker line to permit 10' spacing.

Seagoat. Your sidewall equipment rack location limits how wide the speakers can be placed. TAE's center equipment location creates no such restriction. It would be fun to experiment with a slightly wider placement to see if you can extend the images farther beyond the speakers.

Well, the shoemaker finally has shoes!
This week, Damon and Chris were kind enough to deliver a pair of VR.thirties to my home in a handsome Ferrari Grigio Scuro colorway. At 13' W x 22' D with 10' ceilings, the acoustics are surprisingly good. The deep bass we are achieving is remarkable! I'll likely add a ceiling cloud or two and be done.

It's not an easy room, so having Damon handle the setup was a privilege. The nice part is that the more I watch him work, the more I learn. Powering the 30s are the impeccable Westminster Rei mono amplifiers and Quest preamp. Until my Rockna Wavedream Signature DAC returns from a demo, I'm not suffering with the loaner Lampi Horizon and Aurender N-20! When the Rockna arrives, I'll be running with its updated firmware using Qobuz Direct, which will open space for my Ars Machinae M1 turntable with ZYX cartridge.

The goal in designing the VR.thirty was to bring six-figure performance to audiophiles at a considerably lower price point. That being said, high-end speakers costing what a mid-level BMW does have always driven our decision to offer a variety of standard color choices.

Standard colors, as always, are provided at no additional cost. Due to paint mixing and one-at-a-time production requirements, Premium colors will carry a $2000 upcharge. For Custom, an extra $500 will be added to the Premium color upcharge for color matching and mixing requirements. We have added a page to the new VSA website showing our presently available colors.

As an example, the recently added Aston Martin Concours Blue and Chiltern Green colors will soon be joined by a new Premium color, a vibrant burgundy wine color named Burgundy Lacquer, pictured below.
