Conference Room Audio

Please let me know if this should be posted in a different forum.

From time to time we host meetings in a conference room that is part of our office building, but we do not own it, and there is no installed audio, only a large screen TV used for presentations. Because this screen is mounted on the long wall, the room must be used in a wider than deep orientation. Size is about 30x50 ft, with typical acoustic tile drop ceiling about 12 or 14 ft, and thin carpeting. There is a constant background hum from HVAC, which can not be turned off.

The presentations often involve both speaking as well as momentary demonstrations with singing voice, so the dynamic range can be rather dramatic. We presently use a good quality ear loop microphone via Sennheiser wireless transmitter plugged into a single "party speaker" on wheels. Sound quality is just OK, and of course there is a major issue with adequate sound reinforcement throughout the room, made worse by the HVAC. Since the dynamic range is also wide, getting a balance between inaudible and clipping is difficult.

What recommendations would the forum have for a solution to these problems (other than "find a different room")? It seems to me that we at least need two better quality speakers with a small board that offers compression, but I have no idea where to start here. The equipment needs to be portable, rather than installed, but something that would fit on a rack or cart would be fine.

Thanks so much for your input.
