Hey all,

I'm currently running a Pioneer PL-30k TT with a cheap Audio Technica cartridge. It plays fine, but I've been looking to upgrade. I recently saw a second hand Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC going for $300NZD, $400 below retail. As far as I know, the TT is in great condition.

Is this an upgrade, and if so, is it worth selling my PL-30k for?

I understand little about the PL-30k as a model. There's limited info online, and I am still new to the analogue listening gig. I would really appreciate some advice if any of you know about either of these TTs.

Cheers!

That's the successor to the DC

Here's a comparison of the two:

I see you already have a phonostage which is a good thing as the Pro-Ject models don't have a built-in equalizer like the Pioneer does. Projet does make some decent entry level turntables. I've heard neither but on paper it sounds like an upgrade assuming the Pro-Ject DC is in top condition -- I"d ask about that.

Thanks very much for your reply, I’ll take your words into consideration :)
