The cayman gt4rs is a amazing drive machine(cornerspeed) but as daily driver too loud for me.
the intake sits directly on your ear sounds incredible but after 2 laps on the Nurburgring you wish you had earplugs. Drive with helmet is good idea. Skip 7min 05sec, the round begings.

Yeah, I could see that. I've been in a GT4RS a few times but only with a helmet on which attenuates the sound a lot. The Cayman or 911 GTS models make a lot of sense vs the GT cars for street. 911 Turbos are impressive but I don't need that much power. I got a ride in a GT2 on track, one of our local BMW driving instructors owns one... that was ridiculous! Way too much car for a non-pro but it was quite an experience!

I own one of the most beautiful cars ever made - a first-series Aston Martin DB9 - and it's the antithesis of the Corvette Z06 in many ways. Still, I have a lot of respect for the 'Vette's design. Importantly, it has a clear familial resemblance to its forebears, while (1) being functional; (2) being "relatively" affordable; (3) looking American; (4) being practical to manufacture; and (5) being marketable. Chevrolet could have used a different design language that might have greater "elite" appeal, but their job is to sell cars, and the '25 Z06 will overachieve in that area.

GT 2/3 /4RS are race cars , this cars can do things unblieveable.
I once went to a Manthey Racing race (open day) and you could book a place as a passenger. The scariest lap of my life. I didn't know how quickly a lap of the Nüburgring could be over. It took me several days for my brain to process it. In retrospect, it was a great day. I learned a lot about technology and how to drive a clean line. If you're ever in Germany, book a lap of the "ring taxi" at the Nürburgring - it's a lifetime experience for every petrolhead.

I'm going to sell our Cayman S. Loved it while I had it. Never took it anywhere near its limit. But its hela fun around town. Looking for a hybrid with good milage. Something my wife can take the dog or friend out in.

I'd love to get a ride around the Nüburgring, I was there once, but it was a surprise... I was visiting my step sister in Cologne and she and her husband took me to the Nüburgring. At the time they were driving a 4-seat Smart Car and had a newborn baby, so I didn't get to experience the track but visited the exhibits, etc.

The GT2 the BMW driving instructor owns is the fastest road car around the Nüburgring Nordschleife at 6:43 and the Manthey version is 3s faster... riding in that car even at 9/10ths is amazing. At our local track decently fast cars like a GT4 or my Camaro will hit about 130 mph on the back straight, GT2 can hit about 165 on a fast lap! It uses about a gallon/4L per lap, which comes to about 1L per km!

Here's a video of the GT2 at High Plains Raceway. For reference, a good time for a stock 718 GT4 is just under 2:00. With some prep and r-comp tires, a few seconds less. My Camaro with it's sus and tire upgrades can achieve similar times. So the GT2 here is only going 1:58, which is very slow for that car, but that's on bad tiers and with a passenger... he could likely cut 5s off that time. In any case, High Plains is no Nurburgring, but it's a great track and doesn't have a ton of barriers to crash into. :)

nice track and car must be fun:).
Yes, Porsche is something very special. You can spend the whole day on the race track without anything overheating. Or do a launch control start 20 times in a row. Ferrari waves the white flag after a few times. Porsche is a race car built for the street.
I have something similar almost on my doorstep. Bilster Berg racetrack. I'll be chasing times there in the spring with my little BMW. The "Mousetrap" is relatively challenging, a left-hand bend with a 26% gradient. If there's not much going on on the track, you can drift.. psst, don't tell anyone.

This looks like a corvette beater, very pretty car.

It wins on style for me, over the Vette. But I wouldn't mind giving a flat plane crank a few spins.

I dunno. I want a high power sports car to make a lot of noise, scare the birds, and use up a lot of gas.

It's an EV. It might beat every other road-legal car in the world for a lap or two, but nobody cares.

I’m a wildlife conservationist. It was my profession and it’s still my avocation. I recycle, buy carbon credits, minimize unsustainable energy consumption, avoid unsustainable palm oil, and vote accordingly.
But…I really enjoy the OCCASIONAL hamburger, I love high-end audio, and I put about 3,000 miles a year on my earth-shattering, earsplitting V12, break a few speed limits, and return from epic drives with a deep sense of unbridled joy and a s#!t-eating grin.
I can’t imagine my life being a dull, gray, constant slog. I’ll live on the sharp end for the moments I’ll never forget, and won’t complain about paying for those times by sacrificing in offsetting areas!
And, Ron, as long as it’s not too regular, the birds will get over it…
