Dedicated audio room build thread aka The Big Dig

Congrats Hugh!
You've set a bar really really high. Amazing

Cheers;

Thank you @Golum. great system btw, I am very found of AR gear I almost went there but decided to keep it all in the family.

@Aussienut Great room! some really thoughtful details in the build. And yes beer does help sonic's, its a proven fact;)

Thanks for the comments. Totally agree and regularly enjoy the sonic benefits of cold bottle of beer or a glass of wine.

Hi Hugh
Great job on the room , you must be very pleased . It is nice that you have shared your journey through the build . I am looking at using Dennis to design a room for me when we build your next house in a year or so. I am looking at a room size of 27 f L x 21 f W x 12 f H but it will be dual use with our lounge . Cannot wait after seeing yours. As I live in New Zealand can you send me the contact where Dennis gets his carbon from please.

Hugh,
Congrats on the build! It turned out incredible, you must be really happy with the results. Enjoy!

Great room journey. Although I would add another chair then claim the sweet spot....;)

Hugh,
How have things settled in? Any updates? Wondering if you ever did any measurements of the room, RT60, frequency response, waterfall, etc (REW stuff).
Thanks!
Tom

Wow Hugh, I can't believe I didn't notice the completion and setup of your room. What a fantastic effort. When is the "f_ this Wuhan Flu party" at your place?

hi Tom, Dennis is coming on the 25th. I should have measurements to share then. So far I have been very happy but as in all hobbies I hope he finds tweaks and those without $ :)

Hey Bob. Yeah I am ready for sure. Dennis is coming in a few weeks to hear and tweak. I think he will be pleased but also hope he can improve even further. Come on by if ever in ATL.

Sounds great! Can't wait.

I have to add my two cents...

Hugh and I were introduced by a mutual friend. I have heard the room twice now and it is truly spectacular and I've been in some damn fine rooms. A few observations:

1. The room is incredibly neutral. The bass performance feels so right.
2. The Gryphon gear is sublime. The Trident IIs have tremendous clarity and "whoop you ass" dynamics.
3. The Shunyata cabling is excellent but Hugh and I have discussed a couple of tweaks that I believe will take the sound even higher. Although honestly it's really, really good.
4. The place just feels comfortable as well. Maybe it's Hugh's hospitality in part but it is not a "stuffy" listening room. It's more casual like a music barn of sorts. Comfy chairs, good demo music, and a terrific host.
5. The MSB Reference DAC is really special. The digital clarity and naturalness is really quite special.

It's a terrific room. Grab a listen if you get a chance.

WOW! Congratulations, Hugh!

May the system give you a lifetime of enjoyment!

Awesome.. Way to attack the room problem ! Doing it right from the start..
Thats a dream come true.. Enjoy the music!
