Hello and what a great find, thanks to Ack for the tip on Agon.

I have a DMA series 1 that has been sitting since I had it rebuilt last year. There are many reasons for this but mainly has to do with logistics as my big Krell FPB 600c is mounted under my floor (180lbs). Although I do love the Krell class A magic, I think often about switching back to the Spectral speed and accuracy. I use Oracle V2.2 to WP7's through a Berkeley Alpha Dac. I have heard many comments regarding the use of current Oracle cables with the 180 and risk of oscillation and wondered what you all thought of this. I am quite satisfied with the V2.2 and do not care to go back to the 850's...am I pretty safe?

Hi 1rsw,

I am not aware of oscillation caused by using the DMA 180 with Oracle cables. I do not have a DMA 180 but I have four sets of Spectral power amps of different vintages and I have not encountered any problems using them with Oracle cables.

Hi 1rsw,

Personally, I have never heard of a Spectral amp oscillate when used with any of the MIT line cables and when driven by a Spectral preamp with its own MIT cables; in fact, Spectral have endorsed the big Oracle MA mothers to me, but perhaps not specifically with respect to the 180. I suggest you fax them your question and Mr. Ellner should respond very quickly. It's quite possible the comments you have read are just a bunch of hogwash or utter misunderstanding of the underlying cause of alleged oscillations.

I might be mistaken but doesn't MIT make a special cable for use w/Spectral gear? I'm pretty sure because of their equipment's wide bandwidth that Spectral prefers one use MIT.

Yes they do - and that's what I use... But the question is about other MIT cables...
