Does the Audiophile Community Have a Problem?

No one called him an entitled millennial. I simply disagree with his comments that the industry needs to do more for young people with low budgets.

He (@EBITDAC) did not seem to be looking for advice on options to explore but came in the door blaming others for not providing solutions to him. Not the best introduction, imo. With an Avantgarde/Line Magnetic based system he appears far better off than I was at his age - it is hard to see where his complaints are coming from. There are scores of gear options at that level. What did he expect from the approach he chose?

Actually I'm quite content, but somebody has to speak out against made up allegations that are devisive and false. Did you expect no one would?

I think you are alleging that I was making allegations. I wasn't aware of your physic powers to make such allegations.

Isn't that an awkward reading of what I wrote?

Coupled with your "physic powers" remark, this sort of response does not really help. I've been clear that I'm talking about the article you brought here for our opinion. I did ask you what you expected to come of that - which remains an open question. No, wait ... you expected it to "give us pause" - well I paused, waiting to reply until message #24 where I quoted from the article itself asking for evidence. None was forthcoming. Absent any real connection to WBF, it did not take long to recognize what that article was.

Twice you exclaimed you were sorry or were going to burn in fire for posting. I'd like to encourage you to think the discussion is more about ideas and false ideas than about you. One thing distinctly absent here and perhaps in other audio forums is pity. - it just isn't a good angle.

Timy I don’t know how you know so much about me and what I was feeling and meant by all my posts. I feel like I am under psychoanalysis. Are you a therapist or social worker by trade? You seem like a schoolyard bully that attacks everyone who doesn’t conform. You want me to leave WBF and not participate I am fine with that. Audio is a HOBBY for me to enjoy MUSIC not to bicker on online forums. Analyze this post and let me know. Thanks.

Ron said I agree 1000%, Keith! (About the word "tampon")
That offensive expression is forever banned here as a violation of the Terms of Service.

We are thrilled that Karen is writing essays here!
Oh so true. I only wish I could get 30 cents on the dollar for my mediocre DACs and my past ex wife.
What about "ex wife joke." 30 cents on the dollar for ex wife? Which one directly demean women? Vs other jokes.

People who said tampon. They weren't even thinking of women. The were thinking of resemblance of a physical "product." The tube trap does look like a tampon. It doesn't look like a cotton bud. A sarcasm was directed to men. Men got defensive and pathetically deflected it to the issue of offending women. I cannot imagine @ddk running crying to a police because some women were making jokes about condom offending and demeaning his manhood.

Appropriate or not to be saying tampon or men genital jokes in this forum is a different matter. I am only explaining not defending. It's your house. If you find it not appropriate. No problem. Banned it as a violation of your house rule.

Ex wife valuing @30 cents a dollar from a guy who started this thread. And the forum police is busy catching tampon letting this easily slide by. What a standard we have. I hope few women in this forum are not divorced.

What we write or express reflect our character. People reading it can give credit or discredit the writer by themself. Women are even smarter than men seeing who is two faced.

Good grief we have the moral police on this forum. Tango do you know me? Do you know my ex wife? How can you comment on my situation without knowing anything about me? I live with my comments about my ex wife and did not make any demeaning comment about women in general. Really?

I appear to have incidentally incited a much more visceral response than I had thought possible upon my initial post. I will carefully re-read each post responding to me/analyzing my actions/motivations/experiences and respond where necessary in due course.

Clearly what I thought at the time was an appropriate contribution was not. That's fine. I've been lurking for years but have not been all that active until now, this probably wasn't the best topic to start with.

As a means to clarify the identified concerns, and hopefully restart on a more positive note, I'll do a proper introduction post and cease commenting on this thread.

No I dont know you. And I dont need to know you. As I said what we say reflect who we are. You brought up the article yet you yourself are doing it.

Hello all and good evening to all ladies and gentlemen reading. I think this has gone on for long enough. Views have been presented, things have been discussed and as I sit here tonight looking back on things?

I think it's obvious what the audiophile community (at least this one) has as a problem. The problem is the lack to communicate as adults and in a polite, cordial manner.

With that said, I am closing this thread as it has ran its course. I ask that all of you just simply be kind to one another, be respectful, follow the guidelines of the TOS of this board and above all else? Speak (type) in a manner in which you would speak to your own grandmother.

With that said, Happy Holidays to all. We wish you all a very happy (fill in the blank) season.

Tom
