It is centered around Virginia country doctor Finnix who, along with s many of his patients became addicted to this drug and what they had to endure in order to kick the habit. Sadly there were over 400,000 deaths from Oxycontin as Purdue Pharma and its board tried to have its pharmaceutical reps perpetuate lies on the doctors to get them prescribing the medicine. It showed how a 10 mg tablet soon was replaced. by a 20 mg, then a 40 mg , then an 80 mg and ultimately a 160 mg dose. Addicted people were taking as much as 800 mg/day of oxycontin and many died of overdose.
This is a must watch series and Michael Keaton won the SAG Award for his role. His role was especially meaningful to himself as he dedicated his award to his nephew who died of addiction
