WoW!

The "Harry Potter" spin-off movie "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" took in an estimated $75 million at the domestic box office in its opening weekend, according to pro.boxoffice.com.

An impressive figure for the first of five movies that will explore Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and his adventures while collecting fantastic beasts.

As expected, "Fantastic Beasts" swallowed up the market, as new releases and holdovers all underperformed over the weekend. "Doctor Strange" came in second place with $17.6 million; "Trolls" came in third with $17.5 million.

_______

The film industry is a very lucrative business.

"Though it can be argued that the movie being released in over 4,000 screens domestically (with a reported production budget north of $180 million and a marketing budget of $150 million) and only making $75 million isn't necessarily a win, Warner Bros. is looking at the global game with "Fantastic Beasts." Bringing in $143 million internationally is likely the figure that WB is reassured about the film's staying power."

Marketing budget: $150 million! That's where all the power is when something sells big time. A series of five films is another WB winning recipe. They got the writer, the actors, the money (budget), marketing team, it pleases all audiences...in particular the millions of youngsters...teenagers (they got the money for entertainment @ the movies), everyone love fantasies, ...brief it's a great escape from other lucrative businesses...oil, guns, real estate, stock markets, drugs, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, high end audio, etc. Some are about pure entertainment/distraction, others about reality/pollution/global warming/corruption...but eventually they all contribute to our evolution...culture and jobs and profits and happiness and consumption and creating the demand and flourishing the economy.

I like the film industry more, because it can be used to create movements, positive movements. What we give on the screen we also give in life, in the sense that it has a big influence...just like the trolls on Twitter and Facebook and Instagram. Social movements like the movie entertainment industry play a large role in tomorrow's youth culture and the economy of the next civilization...the human race. It's a global influence...the warming of the next movements.

The writers today, they have huge responsibilities...definitely, just like all the social medias, all who participate in them, and all the world's doers.
The news media has one integral goal; to inform with the facts and expose the truth without prejudice and bias. ...Objectivity.
If they could do like some films do, our planet would feel better for it.

I'm not a big fan of Harry Potter movies (books), even if I saw them all and collected them all on Blu.
I'm more a Lord of the Rings type of fan...big time. ...And The Hobbit too.
Now, this new series I just don't know...Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

More super heroes from comic books are coming up to our screens, it's the wave of the film industry, of the 2016 culture, the tomorrow's entertainment movement. Films are a great thermometer to evaluate the direction of future generations.

*** In (((3D)))? ? http://fansided.com/2016/11/16/is-fantastic-beasts-in-3d/

I know that there aren't many 3D fans here @ WBF, and that's just fine by me because 4K is also more dimensional than straight 2K.
If anyone here saw that film (3D or 2D), and with their kids (or not); I would love to hear your comments.
