Here's another VTL gem for you.

VTL TL-7.5 Series III reference preamplifier

I've had this preamp since early 2008 when it was purchased new as a Series II unit. About 18 months ago it was upgraded to Series III status by VTL. As VTL is very thorough with their upgrades there is no difference between this unit and one that started life as a Series II.

I really love this preamp, but I've decided to try something a little different and move to a complete solid state front end. For a tubed design the 7.5 has a very neutral character which can be tuned a bit by swapping out the tubes for a different variety. Currently it's loaded with the 1960's Mazda / CIFTE 12AU7s that Luke and Bea prefer, but I have quite a few other options available.

List is $20,000 and I'm asking $13,500.

Should a WBF member choose to purchase this preamp at the asking price I'll also include my collection of NOS 12AU7s which includes the following:

Mullard CV491
RCA black plates
RCA clear tops
Several RFTs (50s, 60s, 70s)
Several La Radiotechniques (50s and 60s)
And a few others which I've forgotten...

All tubes were purchased as NOS from reputable vendors (McShane, Tube Depot, Upscale, etc) and all have very low hours.

Photos are forthcoming
