What are some songs you think are really funny? I'm thinking less here of outright parodies, rather, 'straight' songs whose words and/or lyrics make me smile and laugh. Here's two:

Lou Reed's 'Turn to Me' on New Sensations

Warren Zevon's 'Gorilla You're a Desperado' on Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School

anything by the flight of the conchords.

hilarious, brilliant.

I get a kick out of "She Runs Hot" and "Solar Sex Panel." Both are from 1992's "Little Village." If you haven't heard this album, it deserves a listen. It's mostly a John Hiatt album with a couple of contributions from other band members, and the band -- Hiatt, Nick Lowe, Ry Cooder and Jim Keltner -- is the same "band" that made the seminal Hiatt album, "Bring The Family." You probably need that one too...

The lyrics of Robert Palmer's Simply Irresistible always makes me chuckle. The image of the red lips and long legs behind him in the video make me smile for different reasons. :)

I'm a Hiatt fan so I'll check those out. Have seen him live a few times and he's currently artist in residence at the nearby City Winery in NYC, a cool venue. That's a great 'band' btw.

Some others: the title track and 'Ned Has a Big Dutch Wife' on Sex Without Bodies by Dave's True Story. As with their other albums, this one is tremendously well recorded. It's avail on HDtracks.

Remember those well. Shot an interview with Palmer a long time ago when I was doing VH-1 stuff. Producer asked him about his rep as a true Blues guy -- he laughed and 'naah, I just do stupid pop fluff' He was a pretty funny guy.

Just a bit before my time, but I miss Barth Gimble and Jerry Hubbard.

Grown up skater girl Avril Lavigne throws in a lot of dark humor in her lyrics. She's got a penchant for physical comedy in her videos too. That she's very easy on the eyes doesn't hurt either.

IMO Nobody comes close to channeling James Brown better than Prince

While I don't really like the song all that much and I never did, I can't help smiling when I here it

This version was funny.........for about 30 seconds :mad::mad:

This album always brings a smile to my face
