d1A6NUoIRFm0p-YTC8lhJQ.jpegOur dog Sunny, a very large (106 pounds) yellow Labrador retriever with angel wings, was succumbing to the awful ailment of cancer. Specifically, Hemangiosarcoma which is one of the worst forms of cancer in dogs. Despite resorting to immunotherapy from Thoragen, this was to aggressive. This breed is somehow more prone to this form of cancer. We will miss him.

He's been a big part of our life and should have been a therapy dog for the amount of affection and healing he provided to us.

His last few days were visibly more painful and he had much anxiety for the ailment diminishing his life. It was really hard watching him pant and start to limp. He was strong despite this happening and wanted to go for a walk his last few hours.

Goodbye Sunny, we will see you in the afterlife.fk3Q11tOTgCFmhCbZBoMOA.jpegfdzY1L0_QnipvEDPRMT5Cg.jpeg2Np1rMDySFyVaVM8VkDj1Q.jpegIMG_6810.jpegIMG_6792.jpegIMG_6995.jpegghVley47SPaBmO-nAROMNg.jpeg

So sorry. So far my biggest loss in life was my first dog. I will still cry if I think of him.

Thank you. It’s been a very difficult time for us. Like you, we will always have a fond place in our heart for him. We will always remember him.

I am so sorry for your loss. Truly a family member...

Very sad… such a beautiful dog. You have lovely images of him to help keep him alive within your memories. They never leave us fully… only in part.

My sincere condolences. Gus, our sweet companion for the past 13 years, departed last month. Thanks for sharing the photos of Sunny, he must have been a beautiful friend.

So sorry to hear this, Audioquest4life. One of my daughters is a veterinarian and I'm amazed at how she can hold together while she shares so many people's saddest days with them. We've had three dogs and three cats since she was a little girl, and she's cried at each one's passing, yet she says that helping her patients say goodbye to their end-of-life suffering is a "gift of love she can give them." I hope that Sunny's goodbye was peaceful...I'm sure his life was full of joy.

Thank you. His goodbye was peaceful. For us, not so much. We know we did the right thing as he is no longer suffering. It was so hard to have witnessed this great strong dog get sick like he did.

My first dog was Sunny also.

Very sorry for your loss. I can imagine how deeply you feel his absence. We have a lab retriever too…..a particularly big boy who we got from Australia when he was 3 months old. He is a bit over 4 years old now and a source of eternal joy. We cannot imagine a life without him!

They are more than man's best friend they are family. The companionship, loyalty and love they give is something to cherish and sorely missed when they are gone.

How true. We have two grand dogs ( they belong to our son and our daughter. Presently my son is on a one year sabbatical with his wife overseas and we are caring for his dog. Life without them is inconceivable. Watching the two dogs when my daughter is away is even more fun watching these two dogs get along together. Our son’ s dog is a special needs dog with a multitude of health issues yet every day we give him his meds and life goes on.
Like everyone watching and reading this thread, only a dog owner can understand the pain and sorrow one suffers when they lose such a friend and part of their family

My deepest condolences

I'm so sorry for your loss man.
They really are part of the family.
Here are a couple of videos that helped me when i lost my boy last year.

One helped me cry.
One helped me smile in his memory.
Regards Rob.
