Goodbye Sunny! 21 Jan 2016 - 5 Dec 2024

So sorry for your loss. It is hard. I lost Chelsea in May of this year, the same week our son graduated from university. Now I am the crazy guy the pets everyone’s dogs. 14 great years with Chelsea

So sorry for your loss. Wonderful pictures, he looks like an amazing friend. We have lost several dogs, the first of old age, and while sad, was much easier to process. Our second was still 'healthy' until he got cancer, and that was remarkably tough on everyone in our family. They are always there when you need them, and, as friend used to say, some day I hope I am half the man my dog thinks I am. We got a new pup about 4 months later and that has really helped. Hope time only leaves you with fond memories.

I'm so sorry for your loss man.
They really are part of the family.
Here are a couple of videos that helped me when i lost my boy last year.

One helped me cry.
One helped me smile in his memory.
Regards Rob.

Thank you. The Jimmy Stewart Beau poem was sad and it is how we fell right now.

I am very sorry for your loss. I’ve lost a few and their memory can still make me cry.
Thank you. Yes, the memories make you cry. We went out to the beach and traced his last steps in the snow and found his paw prints in the melting snow on the dirt.

Thank you for the tribute to Sunny. You will always remember him. Good dog.
Thank you. We do miss him terribly so.

So sorry to hear this, Audioquest4life. One of my daughters is a veterinarian and I'm amazed at how she can hold together while she shares so many people's saddest days with them. We've had three dogs and three cats since she was a little girl, and she's cried at each one's passing, yet she says that helping her patients say goodbye to their end-of-life suffering is a "gift of love she can give them." I hope that Sunny's goodbye was peaceful...I'm sure his life was full of joy.
Thank you. When our vet came back with the latest test results and started rattling off things; low red blood count, white blood count not working properly, extremely low thyroid level, and newly formed tumor masses in his liver and pancreas showing some fluids in there…I knew right away that he was shutting down. His panting and fast breathing was so bad that he could not even sleep or rest. He was so stressed out. The next morning after the vet visit, he could barely walk. It was like he turned into an old man overnight. So sad to see him like this.

Thank you for sharing your loss. My wife and I lost our Pokey bird just over three weeks ago. He was 34 years old and had lived with us for 24 years. Like you, we will never forget Pokey - he was a big part of our lives and family and when I think about him I feel both horrible loss, but I also feel such love and compassion and comfort because he gave us everything he had. The human/pet bond is so strong and I'm so thankful for the 24 years with him, I'm sure it is the same for Sunny and your family. It is obvious that there are many here who have had their lives immeasurably impacted by the love and companionship of an animal and I'm glad that they have shared their kind words; I sympathize with them and with you. May you find comfort in reflecting on Sunny and his love for you and your family. Blessings from above.
