This will be in my top five of rooms to visit, I have been wanting to hear these for several years. Seeing your current profile pic, I was really impressed by how clean and professional they look. Long time planer fan and Maggie owner, I am really interested in the open baffle woofer sound.
Troy

I could see that being an awesome combo with the GTA3r/SI1600 speakers. Greg are you using the Modern or Classic line amps? Personally i'd love to run the Zanden Classic line amps with the future reference speakers . Also, are you bringing anything new to the show?

This was a last minute decision, we grabbed one of the few remaining rooms.
The room is a standard size so we will be bringing the short stack of OB subs, 2 per side. they will be more than enough.

Zanden is bringing the Modern line..KT120's 100wpc. stereo unit.
Nothing new yet, working on it, maybe next year. Or if all goes well new speakers may be ready for CAF in Nov.

Thanks for the update Greg. I'm sure the new speakers will be worth the wait. Looking forward to the show coverage!

Could you please, update me on what will be the new Reference line might be? Or point me to a thread, so I can learn some more about it.
Thanks,
Troy

@TitaniumTroy, As I understand it, Greg isn't developing a new line of speakers as such, but a new Reference model. Here is what I know about the new model thus far..

- It will be a larger 3 way panel consisting of a newly designed planar woofer, midrange ribbon and tweeter ribbon
- It will extend the frequency extremes beyond the GTA3r
- This Reference model will implement larger line source drivers, the overall speaker size will be approximately 90" tall x 28" wide
- This model will be in the $50k range

Knowing how good the existing planar magnetic & ribbon drivers are on the GTA3r, this new model should be outstanding. Hopefully Greg will be able to achieve similar frequency response to the Alsyvox Botticelli (ie: 22hz - 40kHz) with high sensitivity, whilst maintaining very smooth even response across the audio spectrum like the GTA3r.

What is noteworthy about the new reference model is, they will be massive & about the same height as the Infinity IRS-V's (ie: taller than the Apogee Full Range), which means there would be little to no floor to ceiling bounce. And because they are a dipole design where the front and rear waves meet and cancel out, there would be almost no sidewall interaction. So whilst these bad boys will need atleast a medium-large room to enable them to be brought well out into the room, they shouldn't be too critical re: room treatments. Exciting times at GT Audio Works!

Bohdi...The US distributor for Zanden informs me they will be bringing the Classic line of electronics which includes the Model 9600MK2 845 mono blocks. http://www.zandenaudio.com/jp/product/m9600.php
Thanks for the heads up Greg. They are awesome amps & I think would have great synergy with your speakers. That said, the Zanden Modern line should sound great also...looking forward to the show reports!.

YUP...What Bodhi said.
I am not in a hurry to get the new model out there, just trying to fill orders of GTA3r for now.
The Reference model will have a significantly higher parts cost due to larger and more magnets.
Besides greater frequency extremes, looking for higher sensitivity and impedance over the GTA3r .
If all goes well I will most likely debut it at Capital AudioFest in November, since the room I have there is nice and large.
Looking forward to Axpona, but the only available rooms are small.

Can you give us a ballpark figure regarding sensitivity and impedance?

Ballpark...96 db..... 6 ohms
The Ref model will incorporate a xoverless planar driver that will cover a wide band of response.
This driver will be larger and go deeper than the planar in the GTA3r. It will not cover as wide a band as the 2 way GTA3r so there will be an upper mid/tweeter ribbon to complement the planar driver and a pure aluminum 80" line source ribbon tweeter to cover the treble harmonics.

The higher sensitivity should have positive sonic benefits, including greater dynamics & open up a wider choice of amplification options (incl: tubes).

Thank you. Very interesting

These planar magnetic frames are for another one of Greg's customers who lives in Minnesota.

These were done in Corvette Cyber Gray Metallic - the same color as the frames that were shown at capital audio fest 2018.
Stunning finish. They are now ready to have the crossoverless 6 foot planar drivers installed along with the 6 foot pure ribbon tweeter.
