I am wondering has anyone compared the Aurender N20+MC10 vs the Aurender N30SA?

I am not really open to alternative brands as they both have all the features I want in a package I like, the question is simply a sonic one, which of these options sounds the best. They will be driving a MSB Cascade DAC .

I have not heard the MC10. I have a N30SA and loving it. I plan to try the Mutec Ref 10 word clock with the N30SA as it offers less jitter and better short term stability than the MC10 at a fifth of the price.

Do you intend to use the S/PDIF (or AES) output to your MSB? Or will you connect via USB?
Honestly that is why I need your help. My gut feeling is USB via the proUSB module but in the MSB website it states that interface doesn't allow the upstream device to control the volume which in my case is a mandatory feature sooo

I'm hoping someone who has the same setup can tell me what works. I'm also thinking Aurender might release a ProISL version which would be my ideal connection as long as I can control everything via Conductor.

Sure, I asked because the clock inputs on any of the Aurender digital output pieces only affect the S/PDIF and AES outputs. If you choose to use USB the MC-10 isn't helping.

Full disclosure: I'm a dealer; give me a call if you'd like to talk it through. 615-838-7178.

After the post I realized that the MSB Cascade has a clock out so I won't look at the MC-10 but the USB volume control question will likely be the deciding factor
