Holy, sweet mother of God it's HOT!!!

My suggestion: play COOL jazz.

It's never humid there, N.S. It also gets warmer than 110.

Once you get over 100, I really don't care if people say "but there is no humidity." Hard to give a damn when it's so hot it takes your breath away. I lived in Las Vegas for over 3 years and I can tell you humidity or no humidity, it gets miserable.

You're probably right. 110 with or without humidity is pretty unliveable.

It's continuing to stay in the low-mid thirties for this week, and will feel like it's 40-41-42. Why am I painting my apartment this week?:eek:

They should have closed that road WAAAAAY before that happened. I have a feeling the insurance company as well as the passengers of that vehicle will be suing the state over that one. Wow.

The temps here have subsided a bit and while it may still be hot, it's not an oven anymore. It seems that anything under the triple digits is OK with the humidity we have here. We are still a far cry over the normal high of 88 but the temps now are typical for summer months. We are used to that. Hey mep, when I was out in California I experienced 107 degrees. It felt to me like it was around 87 or 88 here. To me, there is a big difference between dry heat and our heat. California at 107 was a breeze compared to the past 3 days [Friday, Saturday and Sunday] here in the Carolinas. Looking at the national temperatures, it seems we are now actually a tad lower or average to most of the country.

Still hot but in Charlotte? Tolerable.

Humidity does make the temperature more miserable, but there comes a point (I think) that exteme heat and low humidity still knock you down. The worst I have ever seen was Thailand. I will never forget the feeling as I walked off the plane into 100+ heat and over 90% humidity. It literally took your breath away and took sime time to get 'used" to it. You would take a shower and work up a sweat drying off.

I remember years ago, I was diving my auntie around Phoenix the entire day and it was 105.. I thought the airconditioning on her car was just not keeping up with the heat, only to find out when we parked in the afternoon that it was not working at all (cousin said it ded on him while he was driving the car the day before).. it was hot as hell, since then I behaved to make sure I go to heaven

---In Mexico city, painful! ...Can be deadly (heat mixed with exhaust gas from vehicules).
And in Mexico, truckers install their hammocks under their rigs during hot hours.

Heat is a killer. And just a small spark (bullet's ricochet, ...) ignites a forest just like that!
...There goes the neighborhood, and oxygen combustion...
Trees are life.

It's funny that you mention this, becasue I was talking to someone today about the dangers of 4th of July fireworks and fires, now that it is hot and dry.
Incidentally, I don't think that Mexico City is known for being warm, as it is at altitude. Calling Flez...

Heat wave right now: 90 degrees Fahrenheit. ...But the 'smog' (heavy duty pollution) mixed with it, kills!

As for fireworks; good point, but they do take high precautions (firetrucks on standby).
I think fireworks (during the hot summer days) should be only performed above water (lakes, oceans). ...You know ...
