Oh man, this hits so hard for me!The reason I don’t use my main system for background music is that after my ARC, Wilson, and Burmester upgrades, every time I turned it on for background, within 10 or 15 minutes I found myself sitting down in the sweet spot, literally like a tractor beam had drawn me there due to the impossibility of escaping engagement.
I have a dedicated room. It's the most comfortable room in my home. I have a board that I lay across the chair and put my laptop on when I'm writing which I do a lot of. Even if the stereo is at very low volume I find myself closing my eyes and taking breaks.
My stereo might be on for 10+ hours a day or 1-2 depending if I work in the music room or not. I sit with no distractions dedicated (not the quick breaks during the day) for 1-2 hours in the summer, 2-4 in winter. I do travel a lot so I often go 1 week without listening.
EDIT:
I set an alarm at night when listening, the alarm goes off, I finish the track or side of LP and that is it for the night. To easy to stay up all night.
