Lots of raving about Jico SAS needles recently and again in combination with the good old Shure V15 which I didn't appriciate very much in my earlier days. I while ago I got me a SAS needle from Japan, planned to cannibalise it for repair of a vintage MC and the recent fuzz about Shure then made me curious. So I found me a V15-III with a broken cantilever, removed the needle and put the SAS to work.

Initial result was very poor, it took a while for the V15 SAS to open-up and sound like a cartridge. So I put more hours on it to break it in. Apparently its fine now, it seems to be OK. But then swiching back to my beloved SPU Gold Reference was a rather sobering experience.

Best regards, Tony
