Is Levinson relevant anymore?

There is no reason why Mark Levinson should not be relevant now or in the near future.

They have an history of great success in the past, and although they lost some flame during a few years, the brand name is still an asset and the company behind it is a well known in the hifi market, and, as far as I know is quite successful.

They have a strong history of reliability - if you change the electrolytic capacitors of their 20 year old amplifiers they will last for more 20 - and quality compatible with their price.

HK is putting a lot of money in their new products, they should know what they are doing!

BTW, I would not buy anything from a company who had unfriendly dealers and poor marketing strategy - if you put your money in something expensive you want it to be on the market for a long time.

As I final comment I must say feel the same for many other good brands, but this post was mainly written to wish good luck to Amir and Madrona Digital.

my experience is that when it comes to any electronics which aspire to SOTA music reproduction performance; it's degree of sucess at achieveing this is mostly due to the vision, talent and reference target of the designer(s). yes; great facilities and strong financial backing never hurt....but they are not related very much to sonic performance (in my experience).

i'm not saying that a large corporation cannot build great sounding gear....only that i almost never see that...in fact the opposite is more typical. i'm not talking 'good' sounding; when we are speaking about $20k+ for an amplifier it should challenge the very best sounding gear out there.

when ML stumbled in the early 2000's it lost the collection of talent and visionaries which had produced those earlier quality products. i was paying close attention to what happened at the time and pretty much all the product guys left.

has that passion and vision been replaced in the ML product development? i really don't know the answer to my question, but for current 2-channel music ML considerers, that is the question.

I wish Amir and Madrona Digital all the best as well. The personal technical support of about a dozen suppliers was invaluable in my own system and room development. Amir's company has a lot of the services I used all under one roof. This is very good news for the folks in Seattle, Washington State even. Looking at their product line up, I can see that everything's been well thought out. What's more impressive is the interdisciplinary make up of the team. Must be great to be in a market large enough to even be able to assemble a team like Madrona's on a full time basis.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys. I look forward to getting feedback from the Forum to shape what we offer and how we run ourselves.

+1. i wish Amir the best.

Madrona is about 4 miles from where i work in Bellevue, across the street from Definitive Audio (i too have been a '6 figure customer' of Definitive) and almost right next to one of the Original locations of Magnolia HiFi.....it's our own little 'Audio Ghetto'. i look forward to dropping by Madrona and checking it out.

Thanks Mike as well :). Hoping Madrona becomes a playground for WBF members living here to dropping by.

I wish you all the best too Amir.... even if you don't carry my products. I think that it is always more rewarding to grow the pie than to try to cut and dice it up before anybody's even had the chance to feast.

Yeah, what's up with that? I vote you add Genesis.

It is a case of what is down than up, meaning my bank account after spending so much money on construction, equipment and people! :)

Seriously, once we grow some we will surely expand the number of lines we carry.

I had the pleasure of bringing my Hegel H10 to my friends house to compare/contrast with his ML No 53. I left after 8 hours a happy man. Source was a Burmester 069. However, the build quality is beyond reproach. I say ML is still a major player.

Better than no friends.
