After a 14 hour flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai, China, a 12 hour layover in Shanghai, during which we enjoyed a very filling tour of authentic Chinese food guided by a local, and then another six hour flight to Bali, we are relaxing in a villa at the Jamahal Private Resort.

We flew on China Eastern Airlines, which we were afraid would be an Asian version of Ryan Air (which I find totally abominable) ,but the seats were very nice and the service was good.

We are here to celebrate Tinka’s birthday. Two of her friends are meeting us in Bali, where we all will be sharing an AirBnB villa next week.

Neither of us has ever been to Bali before, and it is the most tropical and exotic-looking place we have ever visited.

The hotel villa in these photos is huge and crazy next-level luxury and privacy, but it costs no more than a nice hotel room in Downtown Los Angeles.

Loving the serenity... sigh, the water, the garden walls and that tropical planting it all just looks wonderful. Apologies on the stupid comment to follow... enjoy (as if any other outcome was even at all likely!). Great space for a vacay Ron.

Love Bali! One of my wife’s and my favorite places in earth.

Bali is extremely popular in Australia as a destination as its only 6 hours away. Many private villas to stay at if large hotels are not your thing and as Ron said, they are cheap - especially with the $US.

That makes sense. This must be an incredibly popular vacation destination for Australians.

Bali then the Maldives.

Bali really is a lovely place and the weather is rather nice this time of year. Enjoy!

Thank you, Mark!

I understand this is their winter season here?

Bali then the Maldives.

Dear Tang,

Our friends who own the Sushi Samba restaurants have told us that the Maldives is their favorite exotic vacation destination in the whole world (and they have been everywhere).

But didn’t the Maldives recently suffer a civil war of some sort?

Happy Birthday Dear Tinka!

Make sure you visit Ubud and Goa Gajah where you can be blessed under the water and see the Monkey Forest.
Avoid Kuta, full of tourists and the beaches smell. Only visit Gili Islands if you are seaworthy, it’s a rough crossing, and you’ll find a leftover from the 80s.
Avoid any trip involving snorkelling, we nearly lost our lives, honest story, health & safety doesn’t exist over there.
Best club is Potato Head, drink cocktails in the pool, then eat, then party until early hours.
Have a wonderful stay.
Happy Birthday Tinka.

Hope Mount Agung has calmed down.

Thank you for the invite! Tinka was just telling me about Potato Head!

Do we have any WBF members in Bali?

Hope you have as much fun as this little guy in Bali.

Hello Ron

Bali is a real paradise: enjoy your time in there.

I suggest you, f you have the chance, to visit the Rock Bar Bali (Ayana Resort and SPA) at sunset...

Bring your camera and let me know your feeling ;)

Enjoy,

Riccardo

We are having dinner at bambu restaurant — a stunning design:

So funny that you should suggest that, Riccardo, because that was the other hotel we were seriously considering.
