a few posts back in this thread i mentioned that i purchased the Ekones Oslo sofa and ordered the Oslo chair for my listening room. i've had the sofa for 3 weeks and it's a keeper. i got the Oslo chair last week and after sitting in it for a day or so decided it was not for me, so i returned it.
instead i purchased an Ekones Stressless Vegas chair.
it matches the Oslo sofa in style and color.
i've owned 4 previous Ekones Stressless chairs but i went away from them as a listening chair because of the tall broad back rest which was not acoustically good. the Vegas has a narrower back rest and has an adjustable headrest which is only shoulder height when down (as it shows in the picture). it's low enough to be placed in front of the sofa and not be a problem acoustically.
instead i purchased an Ekones Stressless Vegas chair.
it matches the Oslo sofa in style and color.
i've owned 4 previous Ekones Stressless chairs but i went away from them as a listening chair because of the tall broad back rest which was not acoustically good. the Vegas has a narrower back rest and has an adjustable headrest which is only shoulder height when down (as it shows in the picture). it's low enough to be placed in front of the sofa and not be a problem acoustically.
I now have a dedicated listening chair. It's a Stressless knock-off (no ottoman footrest though) I found on the curb down the street where some college students (rumor is they were dealing drugs) were evicted. I washed it up, I think it still smells a little like smoke but my wife with the sensitive nose cannot smell it.
I cut the heat and massage wires off as they were already butchered. I think those cuts were made by a knife, nice previous owners, hey?
Here's the chair squeezed in between the travel cat box and my wife's stack of magazines which appear in great number without notice. The same may be said of my LP collection.
I have my eye on a Eames Lounge chair, most likely it's a knock-off too. Some students have it on their front porch, I hope to snatch it one day when they move out and leave it at the curb. I might offer them a case of beer for it before then if I get too eager. I already found their discarded ottoman, it needs restoration as it was left out in the rain one too many times.
The best chair is the free chair.

I'll throw in a vote for the Aeron. I just picked up four of them in the non-wheeled side chair version for the new office and everyone who has tried them really seems to like them. Here's a partial pic of one in the unfinished listening room. Not too hot for falling asleep in, but that's not really the intended use in a demo room...I have fond memories of comfortable hours spent sitting in a real Eames lounge chair, but it strikes me that the headrest would render it completely useless for listening

Holy (expletive)! Is that your listening room? Love the way you implemented the IKEA EXPEDIT units into your setup. Anyway, can you tell us a little about those amps and your speaker setup?

Am posting a picture the listening chair of my good buddy mullard88 from my visit to his place yesterday.
My own listening chair (the middle one with a matching footstool). It has a spring below it and so it can recline, and even can be a 'rocking chair' if need be.
Being just a peasant not sure what you mean? I took that photo ULTRAHIHIGHENDFORUM(Sorry Steve). It was at this years CEDIA.
Bumping this post with my journey and experiences and any new recommendations. I've had the usual sectional sofa, then migrated to the typical Ikea POÄNG chair (very low but comfortable) and now have 3 connected HT seats. Problem is - no one watches movies in the game (2 channel) room so these monster seats are a waste. Plus after extensive listening a) my Usher speakers' tweeters are above ear level + the baffle is tilted back (phase alignment and all that) exacerbating the issue and b) The HT seats are high back and the difference with / without the headrest is not insignificant.
So after making a list of all candidates that have a seat height >=20" and have a back length <=24" + filtering seats that aren't so enveloping to cause sweating and are in my budget I think I'm limited to office chairs. I'm looking into the Herman Miller Aeron and Embody. I think a used Embody is the way to go.

It's funny, when I'm in a car I like to be very upright, but at home for music I don't like to be, but not real laid back either.
Lately I've been enjoying a Stickley couch, but could see myself in this since I sat in one and it's unlike all the other chairs that looks like it. Ennis has another chair I've considered, it's a little weird... and not on the website. It's one of those things it isn't easy to be sure about. It's tufted leather but sorta cradles you, and is sorta small but supportive.
