I don't care for the styling of most models of the current crop of sports cars. I personally don't care for lots of angles and creases and strakes. I don't like the way the McLarens or the Lamborghinis look.

I like smooth, flowing, uninterrupted, curves. To my eyes the most beautiful car of all time is the Ferrari 360 Spider. (The McLaren GT has lines similar to the 360 Modena, but not as smooth.)

Out of the current crop of sports cars I think the Maserati MC20 Cielo is pretty. While running an errand in Santa Monica I drove by Maserati of Santa Monica. I was curious to see what the MC20 looks like in person.

The car looks in person like it does in the photos, which I think is quite nice. It looks smaller than I was expecting -- which I don't like, as I like big 2-seaters. I always love scissor-swing doors!

Sitting in the driver seat, the car feels smaller than the 360, which I was not expecting. You sit very low in the car, which I was not expecting, and I don't like. (I cannot understand how Tinka has gotten so comfortable driving her C7 convertible, which feels to me like you're sitting in the bottom of a bathtub and can barely see around you.)

But what was really disconcerting in the MC20 Cielo is how tall above you are the wind fairings behind each seat! It is like there is a mini skyscraper behind you! I would never be able to get used to that. You twist around and look over your shoulder and you see outside -- nothing! That doesn't work for me. I am used to in the SL550 amazing visibility all around.

I asked the salesman about this, and he said there is an electronic camera that gives you rearward visibility.

The last time I was in a car which had the rear visibility of a tank was a Lamborghini Diablo.

So . . . my favorite exotic car these days officially is the Ferrari Roma convertible.

PS: My favorite exotic car of the last 15 years or so is the Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta.
