New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

The Lakers are suffering from the loss of Kobe. More imporrantly a son is desperate to prove he can build a team from the ground up. His sister appears inclinded to indulge him.

Meanwhile the other teams are working to make the Lakers irrelavent.

Sad but true.

Lakers have the 7th, 2nd and 2nd picks in the last 3 years. They should be able to contend if a superstar or 2 comes along.

The much hyped about 8 draft picks of the Celtics turned into a global fan bashing of Danny Ainge amid his no monster trade on draft day and picking yet another 'who????!!!' for the 3rd overall pick. My patience is indeed growing thin on DA and his boss the vocal part owner of the C's. I'm gonna give DA a tip on how to lure KD into Beantown. Tell him than 8 years ago, another Kevin stepped into the Garden and actually won a title. :D If that doesn't work, I'd like to see KD go to the Spurs or the Warriors. OKC has gone small in the Oladipo-Ibaka trade so I think KD won't have too much success there. :D

Nothing is impossible...

Durant reportedly choosing between these six teams

The Kevin Durant free agency sweepstakes are set to begin in less than a week, and Durant has reportedly narrowed his decision down to six teams.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, Durant’s representatives at Roc Nation are working to finalize meetings with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics. Wojnarowski reports that the Thunder are still the favorites but that the Warriors “have Durant’s attention.”

The two surprises on the list are the Clippers and Celtics. The Clippers don’t have enough salary cap space to sign Durant, so they would likely need to move one of their core pieces. Interestingly enough, a previous report indicated that L.A. would not hesitate to swap Blake Griffin for Durant.

Perhaps the biggest advantage the Celtics have is that they have enough cap space to sign two max free agents. There have been rumblings that Durant wants to play with fellow free agent Al Horford, and Boston could sign both K.D. and Horford without shuffling much around. Durant has supposedly given the Celtics a list of players he wants to play with, and there’s a good chance Horford is on that list.

If you read what Durant said earlier this month about his decision, you know he is not interested in playing in a market like L.A. just to make more money in endorsements. Since the Thunder were so close to reaching the NBA Finals this season, a two-year deal with an opt-out after the first still makes sense if Durant wants to give his current team one more shot.

No doubt the Lakers have potential. The question is do they have patience and competent leadership. Experts believe they are are four years away.
Fans will be patient as long as they see progress.

I expect Durant to be with the Thunder next year and then opt out in the year following along with Westbrook.

A trade with the Clippers does make some sense as OKC loses KD for nothing if he leaves in free agency. Blake Griffin is an Oklahoma native so that may work in favor of a trade, too.

How times do change. It wasn't so long ago the every big time free agent couldn't wait to sign with the LA Lakers.

Today Kevin Durant said he would not even meet with the Lakers.

They have plenty of money so it must be something else.....oh yeah, Jimmy Buss.

I always admired Mitch Kupchak but looks like they need a new face for the franchise.

Its not Phil Jackson, its not Magic....well, could be Magic, maybe but he hasn't gotten the Dodgers over the hump yet.

Maybe a Luke Walton and Bill Walton tag team at the top.

I read the Bleacher Report article about the Lakers. I didn't realize there were 6 Jerry Buss kids with ownership shares and that 1/3 of the Laker ownership is outside the family.

Guess it could get even more complicated if the outsiders and only two of the kids get together for a takeover.

Daddy Bill Walton only played for the Celtics for a little over one year - he could easily defect to the Lakers!! :D

Yes, that's possible, as now I am reminded that ex-Celtics Rick Fox and Brian Shaw helped Shaq won 3 titles for the Lakers. Another such guy is Bill Sharman, who won titles with the Celtics as Cousy's sidekick, ultimately moved to LALA land to coach the Lakers to a title. Talk about abetting an enemy. :D

In other news, I read that Larry Bird is not hiring Kevin McHale because he has too much respect for Kevin. Well, Bird had too much respect too for Coach Pitino to reject a front office job above Pitino, make Pitino above himself and ruin the Celtics for a few years. So, respect doesn't really translate to good things. :D

Rick Fox and Brian Shaw however identify themselves as Lakers

That's true Steve. Fox and Shaw played with Bird and McHale. But, their plays never went past the average level. It went up when they were Lakers. :)

Sad time for the Lakers. Jerry gave too much power to Jim who does seem to be a basketball person. THey (He?) should let Mitch Kupchak run the show. Doesn't look good for the Lkaers with no star wanting to be part of this team and with a rookie hope a bad locker room presence... :(

Chandler Parsons just signed a 4 year deal with Memphis, stiffing Mark Cuban and the Mavericks.

This is the same Parsons that tried to recruit D'andre Jordan to Dallas last year.

Evan Turner left the Celtics for Portland. Don't think the Celtics are sad.

Because of the increased salary cap, the free agent salaries this year are insane! Mozgov 4 years $64M! The Knicks are looking to give Noah 4 years $70M!
