No Time To Die

Saw the movie today with my wife.

I can say that I have seen all 25 of the films over many, many decades. To me the Ian Fleming stories were the real Bond stories and Sean Connery was the best James Bond.Having said that this is Daniel Craig's 4 film in the starring role and I can honestly say he is terrific in the role. Too bad he hated doing it

As always their trailers to the movie are enticing and the theme song in a Bond movie is almost always nominated for the Oscar and Billie Eilish was very good

Having said that this film is almost 3 hours in length and I didn't find myself checking my watch. There is a reason for the movie to be this long as it tends to tie together many of the stories told in the previous 3 Daniel Craig movies two I give a thumb's up for that but the story was adequate but not great.

I also always look forward to the opening scene of the James Bond movies as they often are the best part of the movie even though they have nothing to do with the movie. Case in point was the opening of Casino Royale which I feel to this day has been the best. Well the motor cycle stunts at the opening were pretty serious stuff and well filmed.

There are the typical silly inventions by Q given to Bond who always finds a way to use them to gain his freedom or save his life and this film is no different

From MRQE.com which gave it a "71"

Director Of Photography: Linus Sandgren
Cast: Daniel Craig, Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright
Rating: PG-13
Director: Cary Joji Fukunaga
Running Time: 163 min.
Writer: Robert Wade, Neal Purvis, Cary Joji Fukunaga, Phoebe Waller-Bridge
Synopsis
Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

How this story ties the others together is really well written and I won't give anything away

If you are a James Bond fan this is definitely two thumbs way upland is a must see and the length of the film IMO was worth it al in the end

Saw it this afternoon - first half was fun in Jamaica/Cuba, but the second felt really dark and elongated. Agree that it basically was the same usual story except for the personal stuff (no spoilers). The chase scene in Norway was super cool though being offroad for a change. I also liked the homage to On Her Majesty's Secret Service, my favorite Bond film, throughout the film.

Most disappointing part was Rami Malek - he was only in 20 minutes of the film and had no character. Not close to Javier Bardem or others performances.

Overall, it's a "B" - Casino Royale and Skyfall still are by far the best Craig films.

You nailed it Keith. I agree 100%. I saw it today also. IMO, he chose the wrong girl.

I run to the cinema on the First day of launch here in Italy. Almost same sensations as you. A bit too long and I have same perplexity about the partner and also about the "bad" character (Rami Malek).
The 20 minutes end is a clear revisitation of dr.No factories... with a final that seems more suited with a soap opera than a 007 movie...
Of great suggestion the scenes played in Matera. I love also the sound theme by Louis Armstrong the same than the "on her Majesty's secret service".
My personal rating 6 And a half on a scale of 10.

It is Daniel Craig’s fifth film in the role.

Casino Royale, Quantum Solace, Skyfall, Spectre and No time to die.

I agree with Steve about the original Ian Fleming stories being best and Sean Connery being the best Bond. There is nothing quite like the original. That said, Daniel Craig did a very credible job with his own version and of course special effects today are much more dramatic than anything in the 1960s and 70s.

All in all, watching No Time to Die was a very pleasant way to spend the afternoon. And my wife and I counted a total of 8 other people in the theater so our fears of being indoors with unmasked people turned out to be unfounded. (Our county has only a 47% vaccination rate.)

James Bond films only get really good when the villain good too. I love it when the dialogues have puns and a bit of sarcasm. Rami Malek is certainly a good actor, but with so few short appearances in the film, doesn't really stand out. All time favorites.
Skyfall
Goldfinger
Casino Royale
I was expecting a grand finale from Daniel Craig and left the cinema a little disappointed.

I remember Heineken had sponsored skyfall, so he drinks Heineken instead of martini in that movie. There was some controversy around that.

Was there anything like that regarding sponsorships here? Like him being 007 - 11 or money penny being JC?

I saw this last night (at an AMC in Burbank, as it is out of the local movie theaters by now). I agree on all points, Keith. I did like the movie more than I thought I would (it was not quite as woke-y as posters here led me to fear that it might be), and I did not know going in what happens to Bond in the end.

I would add only that I find the effete and whispery Rami Malek unconvincing as an evil villain mastermind.
