Nordost launches valhalla-2

I agree. I cannot see how the new engineering could add that much to the cost. From a raw materials standpoint, that cost is probably little more than the cost for version 1.

The dealers are licking their chops in anticipation...

Maybe it's just another case of 'what the market will bear' and/or they felt that if the price increase wasn't significant enough over the first version that people wouldn't take the new cable seriously and wouldn't upgrade.

My "market" and my "bear" says fail.

I spoke to Nordost directly at the show in Munich recently. The Valhalla II should be considered a "baby" Odin placed inbetween the current Valhalla and Odin in the current range. It's a new design to a very large degree. The prices are indeed high, but a direct comparison with the +10 year old Valhalla (I) is not 100% fair.

I'm so low end, the only Nordost in my rig are three Sort Kones I won in a raffle. :)

Call 'em Aladdin and everything will be OK. No more price/positioning controversies. :p
