I have two large Billy Bags racks to hold my Cds and DVDs. Alas they are full and I need another. I have been unable to find Billy Bags anywhere on the internet. Are they still around? If not, can someone recommend a company that makes a nice rack.
This is by far the most space efficient way to store CDs we could find after coming up with multiple custom-designed storage cabinets, hinges on shelves so we could swing one rack out and get to the one directly behind, etc.
Sometimes, the simplest is the easiest. Its a drawer cabinet originally designed for medical office equipment (so deep but shallow, flat shelves to be able to pick up instruments easily (otoscopes, scissors, gauze, etc)...which has been redesigned for either LPs, CDs or DVDs. Each drawer is 26" x 23" x 6 3/8" high...so you get exactly 5 rows of CDs in each drawer (280 CDs/drawer) with enough room to easily pick up any CD. It also allows for all of my odd-sized CDs and all of my large CD collection boxes except 1 (Glenn Gould box which is 10" x 10" x 10" or so).
In a foot print 76cm (30") x 66cm (26") x 2.1m tall, we can fit some 3,500 CDs!!! When we were designing this, we never thought we'd get quite this many in such a small space. Every time we open a CD drawer, we see nearly 300 CDs at once, and the drawer is 100% stable when you pull it out all the way to the furthest point to see the back CDs.

From what I've read, the original owner sold the business about nine years ago and died shortly thereafter. Billy Bag's wife and the new owner got into some legal entanglements and the business closed down or was forced to close down about four years ago.
