I cant believe that Ive been an SNL fan since its inception 50 years ago and although I still believe the initial cast of was IMO the very best and remains such for me to this day The Not Ready For Prime Time Players always made me laugh. I grew up in Toronto and went to high school with Lorne Michaels who was always producing the annual high school entertainment show. I knew he was destined for greatness. I ended up going to Med school and Lorne went to New York and is still gainfully employed at NBC where he has launched a multitude of stars that last until this day
The Anniversary show was long but fun and was amazing to watch so many past and present cast doing their thing. It was a walk down memory lane for me. To have the finale done by an 82 yo Paul McCartney with his left handed Les Paul guitar was epic. So also was the initial music group with Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter. Both Paul's have lost the full range of their voices but it brought back great memories for me. The audience was filled with the best of the Best,,,,Seinfeld sitting beside Spielberg for instance
Of the entire show however one stood out for me above all the rest and believe it or not it was Adam Sandler singing his song %0 Years Of SNL. It brought a lump to my throat and it also seemed to when Sandler mention Chris Farley and Norm McDonald
some highlights for perusal for those who missed this epic show
who else but the great Steve Martin would be tagged to do rthe monologue
