What will I gain going with a Sigma X NR over the Alpha X NR for my Playback Designs MPD-8 an MPS-X? From what I understand, these are not high draw devices with big power spikes so the Alpha should be enough.

Hi there,
I compared the previous (v2) versions of both Alpha (8 gauge) vs Sigma (6 gauge) and Omega QR (6 gauge) vs QRs (8 gauge) with DAC and streamer. In both cases to me the higher gauge sounded more lush and relaxed. Although the Alpha and Omega QR-s are superb(!) cables. So I would assume the difference with the new versions to go in a similar direction. But that's just guessing on my part.
Bottom line, ideally you can home audition. If not - and budget allows - I'd go for the higher gauge version - even / especially for digital devices, which seem very sensitive to clean, high current power.
