Given our current political climate and the plethora of legislation allowing for medical/recreational canna use, I'm very curious to know who (other than myself) prefers to sit down and enjoy a beautiful recording with a healthy sample of finely cured cannabis, in lieu of a glass of wine, or whatever else may float one's boat.

I can't be the only one.

My IQ moves one decimal point to the left so I guess you can count me out :D

Well, be careful how much you consume. Unlike alcohol, which has a fairly predictable elimination time, cannabis has a very high volume of distribution, meaning that it has a very long half life. Cannabis can be detected in the urine for weeks after a single dose. I don't know if your new, more liberal laws allow you to drive or operate heavy machinery while you are stoned. Over here, marijuana is still illegal and getting caught driving when stoned attracts criminal charges, a heavy fine, and loss of license. If you were caught at work, you may be fired.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that the USA has decriminalized marijuana. But that does not mean that I think people should use it regularly.

Based on some of the TAS and S'phile eqpt reviews I've read, cannabis may already be a reviewer's staple...and Jack, I disagee...more like 2 decimal places

Did you watch the movie Limitless? A zero side effect version of that drug I would do! :D

If you look closely at the pic in my avatar, notice the opening in the front of the helmet to hold the spliff against the g-forces.

Not exactly the replies I expected. A little embarrassing, to be honest. Now, where's that 6-month cured OG Kush?

:)

I never touch the stuff. I don't even like to drink while I listen.

I could equate listening to great recordings while stoned to having a weekend of extremely wild sex while stoned.

I would rather have a really wild weekend and have my wits about me and remember it in all its real-life glory than be stoned and think it was an enhancement.

Can I say that here? Is that TMI ? ? ? :D :D :D

I don't need any drug to enjoy music.

For me music is my drug with my HiFi equipment the conduit.:D

BTW, that does not mean I don't like getting hammered on rbv's every now and then :)

RBVs? Is that Royal Bitter Victoria? :) I remember drinking something like that name when I stayed in the McQuarie University area.

Red bull and vodka.

Nothing wrong with Victoria Bitter either :) Cooper's is a very good Aussie beer as well.

You guys must be a blast to hang out with.

I'll take shooters, chasers and irreverent humor :D I have nothing against pot only the hard drugs with hooks in 'em like Chrystal Meth, Crack, Heroin, Oxy, etc. I find those TOTALLY repulsive.

I prefer speedballs (heroin and cocaine) and 100 proof moonshine. A toke would just kill the buzz. Was that music, or just "the voices"?

Spooling back a several decades, my recollection was that MJ was very nice with music. It invoked temporal lobe wonderment through chemistry. Whether that is a sustainable condition, or worth chronic mind rot and potential impairments, I suppose is an individual decision.

When I went to the Stereophile audio show in San Francisco in the nineties, there was dope smoke everywhere, lots of stoned attendees I gather. I spend weekend in Santa Cruz, and I seldom take a bike ride without smelling weed in the air or see tokers around.

I do believe it should be legalized, but for social sanitation reasons, not because I think using it is necessarily desirable. As said from memory, it does add some coolosity to the tunes.

However, music does not require enhancements to be its wonderful self. Haven't had a mind altering substance in decades except caffeine and advil, and I luv my tunes just fine.
