Strictly Science-Fiction films

Good one...'Minority Report'. ...Another Spielberg sci-fi flick. ...About how to stop crimes before they happen.

After I had enjoyed the movie, I read the story, in some ways the story is better, it has a different twist ending.

Haven't gone round to reading much more from P K Dick but if I were to read something, I'd try 'Valis'.

I just check with Google search and the search for "Philip K Dick movies" gives you as first result a movie poster list - sweet!

Been playing with the Google search results with movies, and it's super cool! On the right side, you get some additional info and below that other searches by people (like related movies and so on).

Quite well done by Google.

My older favorites(not in order);

A Boy and His Dog
Zardoz
Logan's Run
Star Wars
Blade Runner
2001 A Space Odyssey
Death Race 2000(original)

Great list. Logan's Run is among my favourites too. DR 2000 was great at the time, so many great actors in that one.

Haven't yet seen "A Boy And His Dog".

LOL how could I forget Death Race 2000 (original), ok not a classic in terms of quality but definitely a cult status and one that makes me smile just thinking about it even now, albeit as YashN says dated these days.
Cheers

I have never heard of Death Racer 2000. Looked it up on Youtube and this hillarious best scenes showed up:

Was it really this funny? And how did you guys bucket this as science fiction???

Come on.... The nursing home puts out all the old folks for Carradine to run over & score points, and he instead veers into the entire staff of doctors and nurses!

Speaking of Google (Chrome); earlier today I had my eight normal boxes (most visited sites) on my home page...good.
But just about an hour ago, two disappeared, and only six boxes are left...three above and three below...what happened...do you know?

* Oh, and that video just above, Death Race 2000, no comment. :D

____________

This is the first science fiction film (1902) ^ to be considered. ...The ultimate best in sci-fi history. :D

You have to see A Boy And His Dog" YashN Very poor quality, but you get to see and young Don Johnson(Miami Vice) an old Jason Robards. The movie is based on a short story by Harlan Ellison. I love the ending

Logan's Run is one of my favorite movies of all time. I even have a screen used Sandman uniform and working DS Flame gun.

This is not a great movie :D That is not one of my criteria to be a movie I love. I saw this when I was kid and it blew my mind. See a young Sylvester Stallone and David Carradine. The movie was what I would call SciFi/Horror/Comedy. It was set in a future hence the SciFi part.

OK I have turned this thread into older cheesy scifi so I have to mention Damnation Alley and Laserblast :)

Thanks Amirm. I saw this one about 10 years ago and knew it was a once in a lifetime find. I figure it is now worth about 10x what I paid for it :D

Now that right there is really cool. :D

This one might be another "who considers this a scifi movie" movie, but it falls into the "in the future" category; A Clockwork Orange. And a dream come true;

Hey, just checking that with more care at IMDB, it looks like I confused it with 'The Cannonball Run'!

What makes it even more confusing is that there was a 'Cannonball' in 1976 also with Carradine and Stallone...

Will keep an eye open for it. Loved Harlan Ellison's 'I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream'.

Well while on the subject of racing and also sci-fi, I have mentioned the motorbike stunt from Matrix Reloaded in the past but never linked it, the reason the stunt is very impressive is that it is done for real without CGI.
The female stunt rider (Debbie Evans) won the Tauras award at the World Stunt Awards annual ceremony that year for it - Best Overall Stunt by a Stunt Woman.
I must admit the timing for the stunt is so tight I always thought it was CGI, jaw dropped when I found it was for real (edit: just to say yeah the bike riding off the truck is not part of the stunt :) )
Start watching from 2min 40sec, unless you want to be pervy and just oggle her bum in that PVC catsuit :D
