Interested in the experiences of anyone who has tried the Synergistic Research Tranquility Pod on or under a source, power conditioner, amplifier or other component.

I've used the passive EMI/RF absorbing Quantum Physics Noise Disruptors on components for many years with good results and am wondering if the Synergistic "Pod" does a significantly better job. Links to reviews of both below:

I have the Tranquility base under my source components (Mac Mini, + hard drives) and have been very pleased.

I had one of the very first Tranquility Base prototypes and it impressed right off but later trading it in for the UEF Tranquility Base which sits under my phono preamp to great effect. Yes they work as claimed but I think it is more of a final voicing product when one has addressed other more important aspect such as room acoustics.

Same here. Use one under the digital stack.

I have 3 Tranquilty pods now. My dealer loaned me each one to try out. I put the 1st one on my pre amp. Once installed it wasn't going back to the dealer. Since I had great results with the 1 st one I tried a second one on my amp and lastly my pnono stage.

What these pods bring to the table sound wise is extraordinary. Increased soundstsge and detail is spectacular. Detail you didn't hear before is now apparent. These bar non are one of the best things I have ever bought audio related.

I recently tried a Synergistic lps power supply for the tranquility pods for a free in home evaluation and could just send it back if I wasn't happy with it. I evaluated this during August where you would also get a free Tranquility Pod with the purchase of the power supply.

The addition of the power supply was substantial sound wise. I did buy it due to the upgrade in sound. Previous to this I had added a forth Tranquility Pod once again on the free in home evaluation.

So now I have 5 pods in the system, the 5th one being the free pod. My friend has 6 Tranquility pods as well as buying the Tranquility LPS after hearing it in his system on the try before you buy.

I would agree with Musicman that once you get your system the way you want then try out the tranquility pods.

My dealer loaned me 2 Tranquility Pod and some MiG 2 footers to try out. I have a pod on top of my Coincident tube phono preamp and one under my Rogue amp. The improvement they have made is very obvious and most worthwhile. A bigger improvement than any cable change or tube swap has made for me. Best tweak ever. They are not going back to the dealer that’s for sure!
I don’t know how these work but they do.
Most dealers are happy to loan them out for trial as I believe Synergistic encourages this. Highly recommended.

In rash moment a couple of years ago, I bought three Tanquility Pods when they were on a three for the price of two offer. Not really expecting much improvement, I placed them under my Linn Klimax DSM and Exaktboxes. I was already using Isoacoustic Oreas and Mini Pucks so it was easy to create room underneath the components for the Pods.

I was sceptical about the Pods because of the many negative comments online regarding Synergistic Research. Also, the Klimax cases were made of solid aluminium so I doubted that the Pods could have any effect on the internal electronics. For that reason, I placed them near the rear panel where the external conections are made.

In fact, the Pods had a beneficial effect on sound quality. This is best characterised as a smoother sound not unlike the improvement from the Organik DAC upgrade.

This success prompted me to buy a fourth Pod that I saw advertised at a reduced price on eBay. However, I was disappointed that placing this additional Pod on my Roon ROCK NUC and my ethernet switch produced no discernable effect. The failure to have an effect on the switch surprised me particularly because I was able to get a nice improvement by upgrading it's power supply with an Sbooster BOTW.

Earlier this year, I got back into vinyl after a five year hiatus. I acquired a second hand Klimax LP12 that I had upgraded to current spec. To make room for the Pod underneath the Urika II phono stage in base of the turntable, I inserted an extra shelf of Baltic birch ply supported by height adjustable isolation spikes. Again, I feared that the aluminium Trampolin base of the turntable would block any possible beneficial effect from the Pod.

This fear proved to be unfounded. There was a similar improvement to the one I previously experienced with the DSM and Exaktboxes. Although I'd just done the Karousel and Radikal 2 upgrades a month earlier, I'd still been experiencing a slight harshness with some records. The Pod appears to have eliminated this completely.

I should say I have no idea how these Pods actually work. I find SR's explanations far from convincing. That's in stark contrast to Linn upgrades which always have a more than just plausible rationale. As I studied Physics to Post Grad level, that is somewhat perturbing for me. However, I am happy that they can have a beneficial effect as many others have reported.

I once was similarly bemused by an achitect who taught me how to sucessfully locate the route of an underground drain across my garden with a crude divining rod made out of a bent wire coat hanger. I assure you no illegal substances were involved. :)
