Tales and observations of LAN filter burn-in

When fairies sprinkle magic dust on it to make it comparable to analog.
Well you need to find more financial resources. You can put lipstick on a pig and put it in a dress, but it is still a pig.

I don't require a computer for sound reproduction, so I am not wasting anymore money on it.
Then stop wasting our time when we were only trying to help. [EDIT: Personal comment removed]

We've drifted pretty far from the original topic here, but I'll add my personal tangent to the digital/analog/generic pc/specialty server-streamer conversation...
I started my computerized music journey with a self-modified Asus mini pc running Roon, pretty soon after Roon first came out. It was semi-convenient, but the sound was meh and it had Windows headaches. I then bought a NAD M50.2 player-vault (running BluOS) and ran it in tandem with a laptop hosting Roon. That sound was better, but still didn't deliver what I was looking for. Nevertheless, I stuck with it for five or six years.
Earlier this year I bought a Pachanko Constellation Mini SE, which is essentially an audio-optimized Windows computer. It cost me about $4,000, including the associated Pachanko Stellar external linear power supply (it was a dealership demo unit). It is a revelation, and - for me - a previously unimaginable step up from the NAD. Without getting into "audiophile poetry," I'd describe the upgrade as delivering a far less congested sound with a greater sense of ease. This is merely an analogy, but you know how an amp sounds when it starts to clip? The Pachanko provides the opposite to that - a sense of ease, feeling like there's a great deal more headroom, resulting in a more natural sound rather than reproduced sound.
Anyway, my point is simply this: all computer sound is not the same, audio-specific "computers" can deliver some real magic, and good options are available for less than the price of a luxury car.

Do you have about $100k you could loan me?

$100K for what? To get great digital sound?

OK - I'm beginning to think you are punking us.

First you are complaining a $99 item on a computer failed to meet your magical fairy expectations (that was a snippy response you gave to Ron), now you are saying you need $100K to get great digital sound? And you're mad at us that we are bringing to see through this charade?

I really think you are doing this all for attention.

Time to add to the block list.

OK guys. The truth of the matter is that I have been in pretty bad physical shape in the last 2 years. I have brain cancer (advanced stage), and I suffered a near fatal attack just under a year ago.

I also suffered from testicular cancer from accumulation of micro-plastics which have now spread to other parts of my lower body.

The financial toll from dealing with all of this has left me mentally devastated, and very broke.

So sorry to hear that. And in such time we need music. Can you enjoy your analog set instead of the digital?. Im sure we all can help with ideas of improving a digital setup. The question is how much money you can put aside for this? Wish you all the best

You don’t need $100k - and if you won it on the lottery or US equivalent you’d still need to know where to spend it wisely in the pursuit of “digital success”. $1000 spent sensibly would reap huge sonic rewards though. As a great vfm starting point, see how much you can pick up a used Bluesound Node for.

Good luck

I am dead broke right now, and unless someone could sell me a SmoothLan really cheap, or better yet gift me one, I have lost all interest in computer sound, which is unfortunate because not only is my stylus wearing out, its getting increasingly difficult for me to handle the physical process of playing my records.

Have you tried using the iFi LAN iSilencer in every possible location, as has been suggested to you multiple times?

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, a Smothlan is not the answer either. Wish you luck and hope things turn a corner for you.

Because I have spent all of my timeup until now breaking it in.
Give it a try upstream. It's been almost a month, break-in is done.
