I received mine over the weekend. It's a nice set and Paul's writing style is much like his daily YouTube videos. He just seems like the kind of guy you'd want to sit down and have a beer with. I am about halfway through the first book and it's very interesting learning about the beginnings of PS Audio and the early days of the hifi hobby.

I'd definitely sit down and have a vegan brownie and carrot juice with Paul. I read one of his first books. Took me an hour on a Kindle. I skipped the bits that required me to buy a CD to play test tracks. I'd have first had to buy a CD player, not having used one for 15 years. I thought the whole thing could have been dictated in a day or two. It was highly opinionated. I can't remember there being a single illustration. Pictures are needed to explain hifi.
The only actual HiFi book I've bought was Robert Harley's tome, the 5th Edition. I thought it was absolutely brilliantly put together and you could dip in and it was very readable.
I found Dr Floyd Toole's famous book online and scanned its 600 odd pages over 3 or 4 hours. I was impressed by that as well, a lot of it made sense to me. That was until I saw an image of his listening room with 19 speakers and the main speakers hung on a wall upside down. I decided he must be slightly mad with a very understanding wife.
PMG and Toole are/were tied to manufacturers, PS Audio and Harmon Kardon (?).So. there was a clear bias, unlike Harley's book.
