Of course, agreed. But, you can clip in the digital domain and not cause aliasing. Or you can; depends on the signal and how the digital path is configured. Aliased or not, clipping can cause all manner of bad things no matter if it is analog or digital.

Aside: One of the problems converting LPs to digital years ago was that aliasing was not well understood by some of the engineers, nor that the frequency content of LPs extended well above 20 kHz. And some of those early anti-alias filters were pretty ugly...
