Saw this last night. Bryan Cranston does a good job with his role as Dalton Trumbo, a well known screenwriter blacklisted during the Cold War. He nails the original's speech and affectations. I suspect Cranston will get an Academy Award nomination. Unfortunately and ironically, the screenplay is cartoonish and misses the real life contradictions that made his life much more interesting, albeit less self-congratulatory for Hollywood. Read the bio "Trumbo" instead...

Lucky you for having seen it but unfortunate it didn't meet expectations. Still waiting for it to start here

I saw Trumbo a couple days ago and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Cranstan's portrayal of Dalton Trumbo was excellent in my opinion.

Given the movies leftward leaning, perhaps one's political views may color their perspective on the film. There were lots of familiar Hollywood characters portrayed in the movie.

I remember reading his antiwar book, Johnny Got his Gun, for a class in high school. That book had a big impact on me at the time.

Think I'll check out his biography mentioned above.

I too remember reading Johnny Got His Gun and to this day I cannot get that book out of my mind
