Honestly I don't see the general public buying CDs anymore. The world has changed and have moved to digital media (streaming). My kids have more LPs than CDs but 95% of their listening is digital.
I'm curious how many do you actually listen to? One of the problems I always had over the years with my large collections was the vast majority of them never got played.
Donating your music CDs to libraries is a worthy endeavor. I did this regularly at the Telluride Public library, which is a spectacular institution that serves a large immigrant and poor population of kids whose parents work in the town and resort area. Unfortunately, even they said to stop doing this as they simply have no more room. It would be such a joy to know that some kid grew up to be a jazz genius on the sax because he first heard Coltrane on a CD I donated to the library!
