This is the first time I have seen any browser unseat IE. Remarkable how with all the advertising Microsoft is doing, IE is losing share. At least in our little sandbox. Either that or Steve sits there constantly hitting the refresh key on his Mac. :D

Safari 27%
Internet Explorer 26%
Firefox 25%
Chrome 18%
Android Browser 2%
Opera 1%
Mozilla Compatible Agent 1%
Opera Mini 0%
IE with Chrome Frame 0%
Mozilla 0%

1. Firefox 30.70%
2. Chrome 23.96%
3. Internet Explorer 19.15%
4. Safari 18.98%
5. Opera 4.84%
6. Android Browser 1.43%

Actually I use Chrome 100% of the time with my Mac

Even though IE is still installed, I'm a FF user probably 99% of the time. Never really took a liking to Chrome as it kept locking up on me for some reason. If memory serves, that was a key reason I switched to FF from IE as well. No issues since I started using FF.

What's even more remarkable is that this signals a market share shift in hardware. The expensive shift. I wonder, do Apple IOS devices show up as "Safari?"

I think so. I just looked and for the last month over 50% of the Safari hits came from iPad+iPhone.

That explains much, not that WBF is a random sample, but I didn't think Apple hardware share had taken anywhere near that kind of leap forward.

I use Firefox on my Mac Mini 99% of the time, and I just installed Camino.

In my Windows XP laptop I only us Chrome.

Apple still has no more than 5% of the hardware market.

The iPod/iPhone/iPad trilogy saved their behinds.

Are all these different website stats daily, monthly or what other time measurement and how many uniques do they represent (the sample size)?

I still use IE, although I also dabble with FF and GC, but I have no urgency to change my habits at the moment. I can see people wanting a faster browser while using phones and tablets as speed is more of a concern, hence the decrease in IE use amongst those users.

You gotta believe however that MS is working hard for a solution to this decrease in user(market) share and will address that with IE10 or whatever they choose to call it.

The data I post was monthly. It is gathered on a per access basis, summarized daily. The report then can be viewed from days to years.

I can't disclose the same size as that shows our true traffic :). It is a big number though.

I browse WBF with my iPhone.... Always have to enlarge the font though. Forget about responding to a post!!

When I'm out I might check in with my Android phone which is pretty small but one thing i use to write texts & write posts - is Swype - it's a great way of texting for those a bit (ahem) older than the X-generation. It works by sliding your finger over the screen keyboard to spell the words & is surprisingly usable. It makes my texts a pleasure to write as opposed to a chore - I can even text while walking :)
