What is new in my music library? (recent purchases I enjoy)

Cool stuff. I don't think I have seen a Jazz group with a female dummer before:

May I introduce Mrs. Carlos Santana (aka Cindy Blackman, now Cindy Blackman-Santana):

You may also remember her from this:

Anika Nilles is great too. Kinda more modern jazz/fusion, but great all the same:

And Terri Lynn Carrington still going strong too:

Hi Jazzhead,

Nice to hear from you. How are your experiences so far with your (new) Zanden equipment? Hopefully you are enjoying yourself.

As you probably know, I only listen at home in stereo and my experience with multichannel is rather limited. However, recently I visited with my father and a friend one of the Dutch recording companies and listened to their dsd recordings in multichannel. My father was blown away and was really impressed with what he heard. The multichannel system was extremely powerfull, albeit less refined compared to what I am used to at home. Somehow - in particular compared to a live concert when the orchestra or band is in front of you - I have difficulties to embrace the sound that is coming from the sides (and sometimes rear). It feels somewhat unnatural to me but maybe I am just an old fashioned audiophile. What is your view in this regard?

Hi AC , only inserted the Zanden pre so far , not the monos as was tied up during the festive season . Will do shortly . The pre amp I find dynamically and texturally very alive . It imbibes a nice sense of legato , notes flowing from into another . I guess it's the tube rectification that allows it to . Tonality with stock Jan Phillips tubes did not hit the spot , so have got a RCA copper plate 5687 and Mullard Rectifier to roll from Brent Jesse . His recommendations so far have been spot on , so hoping for more of the same .

As to multi channel , I personally have not heard any tracks to form an opinion . Only hear people advocate it , rather strongly too. Always thought the rear channels only added ambience and a sense of the venue . If there is music emanating from them , it would be pretty disconcerting . Refinement being another , having 5 channels to match LA sound quality is rather an outlandish improbable thought . More music to you .

still out of my comfort zone genre wise but finding this album very intuitive and engauging with a deeply passionate vibe to the music this passion also seems to show in the relationship between the musicans and thier instuments, well thats whay my ears are telling me, its got great emotional depth in parts and is kind of sexy in parts too, while innocent and fun, child like in its playfulness in others. excellent fidelity as always.. cheers amir. i love it!

i know 0 about this genre or these performers so this just what i feel by listening.
To be sure, I am not too far from where you are from these types of albums pushing me into new territories. But I keep listening as I know for a fact doing so expands one's horizon of music over time.
