Zellaton Plural Evo - My Review

Thx

Thx

I posted this on Steve’s thread but here as well:
Hoping you can join with Zellaton, Soulution, Air Tight and Reed this weekend in Dallas at SWAF. I’ll be playing Plural Evo’s in an analog only (Reed idler) setup. Please bring your records ;)

For me the Contriva G3’s are one of if not the most beautiful speakers ever made but since coming across the Plural Evo, I am inclined to say there is a new king of the bloc! What a beautiful speaker such a shame out of the reach of average joe! ☹️

Kudos to Gideon re the Plural Evo........approx 2:54 mark

Because it supposedly needs high power to "wake up"...a fail, IMO.
There appears to be clear user observations to the contrary. And you believe the speaker is a "fail" based on one poster's experience on this thread?

Might work at lower levels. It really depends on how low the impedance goes (nominal 4 ohms) in the bass. Could sound anemic if impedance dips in the bass region.
"Could sound anemic"? What does that mean? Maybe or maybe not?

I am wondering if using a not very high sensitivity driver to cover such a wide range is a good idea? .
Seem to be many serious audio hobbyists (and one seasoned reviewer) that believe it is. How do you explain that? Why do you think that is?

He said he heard it twice. Who knows details of system, room, etc. I am excited for you. Sometimes I wish I were back in the "game".

Well it wasn't me. I only heard the Plural Evo for 2 months in my home in a high end custom built listening room with Class A/B and Class A tube powered amps and pre-amps. Exceedingly thin and lacking in body, dynamic contrasts etc. with fabulous highs is what I heard but everyone else loves the speaker, so what do I know? I've radically changed my system since then.

Hello again.

I’ve had the Zellatons for about five months now, and honestly, I just don’t get some of the criticism. People saying the sound lacks body? That’s definitely not what I’m hearing at home. The Tidals, yes, they did sound a bit lean, but the Zellatons have much more presence in the midrange and warmer, fuller bass. It’s one thing not to enjoy their sonic signature — fair enough — but pointing out flaws that, to my ears, simply aren’t there seems a bit much.

As long as you don't point to me saying that. I had them with apparently insufficient/inadequate power. Someone else must have stated about hearing them twice.

Pay up,,, heard them and several other Zellatons. FWIW, I like very much the sound of the Klassik line…Plural Evo had none of the Klassik line magic.
I guess that why it’s Evo line and not Klassik line

Let’s just see what you think. I am not sure but I think I heard Ultras last year in Munich. If not, they will likely have them there this year.
Im bushed with the work done today and the listening Gideon and I did. Let me just say Brad, in my system, my electroncs and my ears there is no leanness whatsoever to this sound. I will go so far in saying that all of my anxieties using my Lamm electronics were quickly put to rest as well as my concerns for the sound stage presentation from a smaller speaker than my Wilson X2 Series ll
