Either that guy is really strong, or that transformer doesn't weigh as much as it looks. The power transformer in my Krell KSA-250 weighs 83 lbs and somehow I don't think he would have the same grip on that transformer as he does on the transformer in the picture.

Having had the 2x 909s mk5 in my system for 3 weeks now here are my initial impressions-----
they throw a wide soundstage, a bit warmer in sound compared to the pair of 911s i had for a trial basis.
they render beautifull toanllity with great detail extraction, without any harshness.
the bass is still bloated, and i suspect it'll take it another 100 hours or so to really tighten up.
how do they compare to the vacs?
No S/Samps in my expereince can match the tubes' mid frequencies magic, BUT, the 909s are faster, more dynamic and denser in all frquencies.
the 909s and the vacs are quite similar in the "sweet" high frquencies they portray.

A very nice review of the 909 mk.5 in tone audio #53.well done jeff!

jeff is not as nice as you think. I criticized the North American distributer of Burmester because he reminds me of a beer swinging frat boy, and he got me banned from AudioAficionado.

Hi, ozy,

What are your impressions of the 909s now that they must have run around a couple of months more in your system?

And I agree, good review on the 909. I still want to know how one 909 would fare against a pair of 911s though.

Cheers
