I feel dirty.....

Yes, the difference between them is rather large. I also compared both sets (excluding the power cables) in my system, and felt the same as you, but I was not prepared to spend such a large amount in cables. Recently I heard about a Devialet / Wislon Sasha owner who bought a complete set of Odin cables after trying them for a few days!

Hi Microstrip. I own the Valhalla digicable which I really liked a lot when I compared it with TA Ref digicable. Otherwise, my signal and speaker cables are TA RefMM/XL. Since I have comparatively less experience with Valhalla, and none with Odin, how do you compare TA Opus/MM with Odin/Valhalla? Thanks for any guidance. Not looking to change...just looking to learn.

Not an easy question, as an appreciation will be always system and room dependent. IMHO Valhalla is the more "spicy" cable of the whole group. Its bass slam and energy were unique, sometimes at a detriment of fullness. It sounded impressive in the SoundLabs, creating a big space full of energy in my room, as it complemented the dipole bass characteristics very nicely. The Odin was better in ever detail, and better balanced overall. The "size" of the objects in the soundstage was great in position and energy. A string section was a well defined entity.

The Opus MM2 set I currently own is a different type of cable. It manages to make your speakers disappear in a different way - enormous soundstage, music seems not to be enclosed in your room, highly dynamic, but gentle and simultaneously with great presence and detail, without being etched. The silences are darker, and dialogues between piano and violin are more intense. Voices can take an wonderful and intimate presence, almost holographic.

IMHO, the Odin sounded better than the Opus MM2 in the Aida's - but on the Alexia the Opus are sounding really great. My opinions are based on auditions using the Audio Research setup - other amplifiers could result in different findings.

My experience with the digital cables is very reduced - I am addressing the ICs and speaker cables.

I know the feeling. I was Beta testing pre-production Master Built Ultras. My report to the manufacturer was: good news: ground breaking product/ bad news: I can't afford them. LOL.

great feedback as usual, Micro. Thank you.

I just finished installing these "God Particle" cables that arrived today...The stereo is now warming up. ;)

reminds me of that line out of glenngarry glen ross: "you see this watch? that watch costs more than your car...thats who i am and you're nothing."

I think your cables are worth more than my car, in fact they are :D

His cables are worth more than most cars!

Not the sort of cables one can hide from the wife that easily though :)
Cheers

she noticed them and said they look nice. I'm glad she didn't ask how much....

If I remember correctly, you aren't married to her yet. So unless/until you put a ring on her finger and she puts the noose around your neck, there's not a lot she can say if she's smart.

Maybe I will propose with an Odin neck choker....;)

If she had any idea how many carrots the cost of those cables could have put on her finger, she would want to choke you. Of course, you can't listen to her finger. You can only see it wag in your face which isn't nearly as much fun as the cables being in your system.
