Yes i have tried the piccolo’s but i didn’t like them after 2 days. First few hours i liked them but after a few days they became to intense.
But the grid protectors i like, only behind the set. Not behind my listening position, than it confuses the soundstage. I have them on the least intense position/config.
No when Ron visited me i didn’t have the Schnerzingers in the room. I just had the speakers running for a few weeks and i was still learning the system.

We seem to have the same type of gears. But in my system the Piccolos worked but the Grid Protector did not. From users experiences I heard, Scherzinger devices dont work across the board. When they work they add special effects to sound. I found the Piccolos worked on the highs and gave enveloping emersive sound complimenting Tripoint. One Scherzinger device that seems to have very positive feedbacks from all users is the power distributor. I never tried it though.

The reason I asked if Ron knew about the Scherzinger in your system is only to raise his awareness that he was hearing the whole system with the device if the device was in the system at that time. Everything in the chain counts for the impressive sound he heard. I have deep respect for him. But really he is a big boy he can take a swing. ;)

Thank you Jeffrey!
They are behind the left and right textile screens.

The textile screens were selected with some genius because the water scenes add the illusion of greater width to the room.

If David sees a Schnerzinger antenna stick in my listening room he is going to rip it out and use it to roast marshmallows.

OK AQ,

Lovely setup, no doubt. It must sound as beautiful as it looks.
I see a lovely Lampi Pacific Dac perched on a pedestal there, but no mention of it at all. Tell us more about your digital setup and how it compares to your top shelf analog.

Thank you!

The Lampi Pacific is mentioned in the 2nd post of this topic, with a picture :).

I do like the Pacific very much. For me it was an improvement on the 2016 GG i had before.
Earlier this year i tested a lot with all my tubes and than with the Magico's i very much liked it with EML 300b XLS, also with Tak 300b's both with the 2016 KR 5u4 Lampi recti.
Since the Cessaro's i prefer the Tak300 with the RK 2018 Lampi recti and since i am more used to the system i also like very much the 101d rep's and Elrog300b in the Pacific very much. Tried also with tak274b and 2016 Lampi recti but since the new speakers i allways prefer combination with RK 2018 Lampi recti. So what we prefer is also allways system dependent IMHO.
At the moment i very much like the new RK242. It only has about 10 hours on it, but sounds very good!
The new RK242 has 2dB less output than the KR242.

Very very nice. What kind of racks?
Parker
Thank you!
The racks are custom made. Heavy wood and heavy metal painted black.

Thanks AQ,

What do you prefer, RK242 or EML 300b XLS? Just trying to establish some reference points. I have a loaner RK242 from Golum to compare against reg kr242. Agreed about the RK RECTI...KILLER!

THE 101D??? I NEED TO TRY AGAIN IN THE PAC.

I prefer the RK242 above the EML 300b XLS. But like i said now on the new system.

Could be because of new love, but for now the RK242 is on top of my list.
1. RK 242
2. 101d we repl (metal base psvane)
3. KR 242
4. Tak 300b
5. Elrog 300b.
6. EML 300b XLS.
7. KR PX4
8. EML 45 mesh
9. KR 45
10. KR 300b solid
15. EML 300b Mesh

Recti's
1. RK 5u4 Lampi 2018
2. KR 5u4 Lampi 2016
3. Tak 274b
4. EML 5u4 mesh
5. EML 274b mesh
6. KR 274b
7. PsVane 274b

Sometimes the Tak 274b is the better choice. But not for the top 5 output tubes. Offcourse all IMHO and in my current system.

I didn't hear the RK 242 there but 2 and 3 were quite better than the others in that order though I think the valves in Alieno have to match too and then we found that with the Elrog in the Alieno the lampi valves matched as above. Good to know the RK 242 is even better

The RK recti was much better

The RK 242 is da bomb
The RK 5u4g is my favorite recti but I have never heard the famous Takatsuki 274b. You say the RK recti is even better than the Taka 274b recti?

I never compared those two. I compared RK to KR...

Personally the Tak recti that I have compared before at Al's, and the Tak 300b that I have compared in two different systems (one AQ's and the other also an Alieno system) I have found it to have a dense mids color and the stage pushed a bit forward. So it seems to be a Tak signature. I would like to try the recti again to check if this assumption is correct. Those who like their mids that way will like it, I don't. I like valves which seem more transparent and which show different tracks differently. In the 300b the Elrog does that better in the Alieno amps in both places. I would like to try an Elrog recti

Agree on the first 2 comments. I didn't test the Tak 274b with the new RK242, but i just short did that.

The Tak makes everything and mainly the bass a bit "softer". Sometimes this can be good when a system is the other way.
It also gives a little bit more depht. But is has less drive, less attack than the RK 5u4g. Tone is a little bit leaner with the Tak.
But still a very pleasant sound. Will test some longer with this recti.

We all hear different or like different aspects.
And also the implementation can have a different preference ...

I prefer the EML 300b XLS in the Alieno. I can't enjoy very long that tube in the Alieno. At least when i listen to digital source.

But in the Lampi Pac i prefer the Elrog 300b's above the EML 300b XLS'..
Same story with Tak300b prefered above EML300 XLS in Lampi and other way in the Alieno Amp...

A week ago i mounted another SME 3012R but now on my Kronos. First with the VdH Colibri MS. That sounded good.

Later i tried the Grado Epoch, well that is my favourite. After some adjustments and comparing i liked it better than on my Techdas AF3p.
Next day i found out that the Stacore was a few mm's out of level because the rear cilinder had no airpressure anymore.

So i have to redo that compare.
