Good to hear Lee,
You ever tried it for main stereo critical listening for curiosity?
Thanks
Orb
I read a lot and thought long and hard about getting a pair of XPA-1's but just couldn't justify it... Rather buy more movies and music!![]()
No, with the big Krell EVO amp in place, there's no reason for me....
Lee
One thing I don't understand is why doesn't their own 2 channel stereo preamp support balanced output? I mean the XPA-1's have balanced inputs. Doesn't add up to me.

The UMC-1 belongs in the Surround Processors or Pre/pros section.![]()
I am just being an axe Nick!
The UMC-1 at its clearance price right now of only $499, plus the full 5-year warranty, and a firmware update coming up for the last small remaining issues, and I believe it also comes with a 40% discount this is fraud towards your next pre/pro upgrade (XMC-1), but I am not 100% sure on that; is for a bunch of people a big bargain!
And for many it does work fine and sounds wonderful.
I am not saying it's for everyone, but according to the big boss, Big Dan, a lot of people are totally satisfied with it, and they sold, they are selling lots of them every month!
And as a regular member over there at the Emotiva Lounge; I can fairly see what the average people have to say.
Cheers,
Bob
Rich, I certainly respect your viewpoint, as you are not alone in that line of thinking.![]()
* By the way, I use a low grade Onkyo pre/pro in my main and strictly surround sound setup
(PR-SC886).
I read several owner's reviews, who compared amps like the Emotiva XPA-1, and XPA-2, and XPA-3, and XPA-5, and UPA-1, and UPA-2, and UPA-5, and UPA-7 to other amps that cost much much more and they just couldn't believe their ears on how Emotiva amps stack up against such amps by Parasound, McIntosh, Anthem, Denon, Integra, Krell, Marantz, ATI, NAD, Rotel, Outlaw, Sunfire, Bryston, and the likes.
Just for an example; the XPA-1 monoblock was compared to others which cost as much as 10 times more, and the XPA-1 came if not on top, a very close second!
Now, that's what I call Best Value for your Dollars!

As for Surround Sound Processors, Stereo Preamps, CD players, separate DACs, Speakers, and all other Emotiva products, well, that's for another thread all together.![]()

But the key point here, in this thread, is that Emotiva Amps are the Real Thing!![]()
-You just can't take that away from them, or from me (I own the XPA-2 and XPA-5, and the XPA-1 monoblocks are on my future list).
Good day all, enjoy this gorgeous weekend; at least here where I live, on Vancouver Island.![]()
