I've had the pleasure of listening to this system. It's much more than an assembly of top components. Everything has been assembled with great care and works together as a system. The sound is detailed and resolving but I didn't think of those terms when I listened. Also, of great importance, this system is not fatiguing.

The only thing that was fatiguing was getting those monsters up the stairs

Steve-I am curious as to how old your output tubes are. From your pictures, the getters look pretty shot. With some tubes like the Gold Lion KT-88 that makes no difference as they could still have years left of life. Your system looks great and your photos came out really nice.

Mark These are GM-70's and have burned like this from day one.

I have had the amps for under one year. I also have a very rare pair of GM-70 which are copper plate. Stock version is carbon plate. I played with both and to my ears and subsequently to many other listeners the stock carbon plate is better. There are only 6 pair in existance and I have one. They weren't cheap

My room is 18' wide X 31.5 Long X 8' high at the windows and 12' at the inside wall

Now interesting question. Of course and had room modifications done by Art Noxon at ASC. I have fiddled and putzed with my room and had many, many listeners whose input I all cherished. Over the years the room is a well dialed in analog set up with HT thrown in. Not ideal for either but the best of both worlds with the emphasis on audio not video. Having said that the questions that are most needing resolution in the room are

1. Proper time and phase integration of my Gothams with my X-2's

2. The asymmetry of the room because of the sloped ceiling. It drives acousticians who have visited (most recently Keith Yates who is member here) crazy but I have pretty good measurements in the room which are not flat but show a gradual 10 Db fall of from 20 Hz-20 Khz. This has recently been the topic of another thread Started here by another member as well as one I started at another forum called "Is Flat Where It's At"

Finally there is no doubt in my mind that DRC with the likes of TacT or whomever would solve those 2 problems BUT at the expense of the magical midrange and upper end that my system has now from tubes and I ain't ever going to give that up
