new release of any CD player or transport is good news.
Similar to D1, it can be a sole sacd transport or with installation of dac modules, becomes a sacd player.
Probably around the USD $40k. As Euro prices and US prices tend to be very similar after currency conversion.Anyone have an idea of US pricing in US dollars?
This is great news.US price is 41k plus 5k for the Analog output boards if required.
Please find below further details regarding the new D1.5 Player/Transport and its availability.
With an almost identical form-factor and operational interface, the D1.5 continues the established CH aesthetic, fitting in perfectly with existing and future systems. However, internally it is a completely different machine, based around our own, all-new, proprietary transport mechanism.
- In-house designed and built Mechanically Optimized Reading System (MORSe) disc transport. Massive, ultra-rigid construction, with precision, mounted and critically suspended motor and laser assembly.
- CH Link HD, AES/EBU, S/PDIF, and TosLink digital outputs mounted as standard.
- Fully compatible with SACD, CD, and MQA CD discs.
- Optional dual-mono DACs and Sync IO board allow users to specify or adapt the unit for uses as a transport or player, with or without external clocking.
- On-board decoding now employs a state-of-the-art PEtER spline filter algorithm for CD Replay.
- Users can configure digital outputs to optimize replay of MQA discs with an external MQA capable DAC, avoiding on-the-fly sample-rate switching.
Launch:
The D1.5 will be making its public debut on November 5th, 2021, simultaneously at Acoustic Gallery in Paris and with Zephyrn at the Tokyo International Audio Show.
Availability:
We are expecting to ship initial orders week 46, w/c November 15th, 2021
In the US market, there is a trade-in / trade-up program for D1 owners. Our dealers have the details. Check with the dealers in your geography for the exact details. Thanks rsorren1 for the detailed explanation!
BTW can D1.1 be upgraded to D1.5?
If yes, is the upgrade worth the cost?
Thanks again!

I’ve now listened to the D1.5 in my system for about a week as a one-box player and as a transport connected a C1/T1/X1-D. As a one-box player, it is a big step forward in presentation when compared to the D1. MQA encoded disks especially sound great! The use of our Spline filter and digital filter in the D1.5 have improved the sonic presentation in every way when compared to the D1. As a transport, I’m hearing more details in the presentation than with the D1. The power supply improvements and improvements to the transport mechanism mentioned above are the likely reason for this.
All, a few more details for you on our new D1.5.
The MORSe consists of a heavy brass module, weighing almost 1 kg, on which the optical pick-up and disc drive motor are precisely assembled. This unusually high weight allows us to push the mechanical resonance frequency of the module several orders of magnitude lower than in most other transports, while ensuring an ideal counter-weight to the torque of the spinning disc.
The complete module is isolated from the rest of the chassis using four alpha-gel isolators, fine-tuned to filter vibrations all the way down to AC mains frequencies. This prevents vibrations generated by the spinning of the disc from reaching sensitive electronic boards, as well as low frequency vibrations originating in the power supply or chassis disturbing the accurate tracking of the laser mechanism.
The disc clamp is made of lightweight PEEK polymer, which provides optimal grip and dimensional stability, ensuring slip-free transmission from the direct drive motor to the disc.
The chassis holding this crucial sub-system is a 2 kg rigid aluminum structure, directly coupled to the heavy base of the D1.5, which is in turn directly coupled to the supporting surface by the latest implementation of our adjustable spiked grounding system, creating an ideal mechanical ground reference for the rotating parts.
Optical disc formats, manufacturing techniques and materials continue to improve, those improvements delivering a significant increase in musical performance. With the MORSe – in the shape of the D1.5 player/transport – those musical benefits are more apparent than ever before, offering a substantial upgrade over the D1, both as a player and a transport.
Hi Jeromelang. Yes, the D1.5 can be controlled using either the supplied remote or the CH Precision control app (D1 too). Our app does not show a track listing, however, one can directly choose a track to play using the control app. To do this, load a disc. The total number of tracks appears on the front panel of the D1.5 and is duplicated on the control app. If you select the D1.5 on the left side of the control app screen, then touch the number of tracks on the control app screen, you can choose any track that you would like to play directly. I usually have the CD/SACD/MQA disc holder in hand and select a particular track that I would like to hear. Hope this helps.Does the new transport control and play discs using their app?
Will the app shows the track list and allow users to choose any desired track directly and play it?
