Amir's CES 2012 Picture Thread

Shockingly, some of the worse audio I heard came from these Meridian speakers. They have a mid-range/tweeter on top and a bass driver firing down. Sounded like cheap PC plastic speakers. Tubby and muddy. Combined with the cold reception they gave to me when I asked them about it, they really missed the mark here on both technology and business:

The cone shape is all cosmetic. There is just a front firing, traditional shape speaker in it and the rest, is just for looks:

This one was playing music and while sounding bright (probably the lousy content they had picked), was far better than above:

Jeff Rowland electronics. Give these people an F for marketing. They had all this nice looking electronics, hooked up to Revel Salon 2 and would not play a darn thing with them! I walked in. Sat on the couch, taking pictures and they still ignored me and didn't play any music. Shame, shame, shame!

Maybe it is me but don't you create more problems with those sharp edges than you solve by twisting the top of the unit?

Peachtree had their new integrated DAC. It has a digital amp it seems since it was dead cold (heat wise). They had a good selection of modern music playing and it sounded good although the Martin Logans could stand being tuned more for that room.

These are the new Anthem (1000 watt?) monoblocks driving Paradigm S8 reference speakers:

Darn, that is a poor image. Next year for sure I will bring the monster DSLR....

Convergent Audio Technology driving the MBL speakers. Is this the room everyone thought was the best?

And that is the last one! Man, I would never make it as a professional blogger! This is way too much work :).

Amir, many thanks for all the efforts- thoroughly enjoyed the photo's.

Post#35 -You wondered what the speakers were -They are the Verity Lohengrin II.

Best,
Neville

Amir, Thanks for the great pics.....

From my analog head:)....the TT on post 14 is the Benz-AMG. What did you think of its sound? The TT in post 34 is the OneDof ( one degree of Freedom)which is an entry level TT priced at a $150K.

BTW, on post 38, the speaker is the SF Amati Futura not the Fenice:eek:

My pleasure. I mad the correction. Did you say $150K??? I think I would buy a BMW and a $50K turntable and still come out ahead :). The sound was good.

Thanks. I corrected that too.

great stuff Amir. I am almost embarrassed now to post mine. Many I have are similar to yours BUT I have pix of the new XLF and the silk dome tweeter as well as photos of me and DW
Post them Steve. I suspect your observations are far more useful to members than mine.

Fantastic Amir, thanks a lot for transporting us there!

Too sad about what happened at the Rowland suite, I agree with you that an Audio equipment needs to be heard in a place such as the CES.

The Midwright pic is an Integrated amp, not a music server.... :)

Loved the Levinson news, I was not aware of that new line.
