Well, what you're telling me is that when a customer is not in the "orbit" of a Shunyata dealer, you'll be able to find one to work with to obtain Shunyata products, of any kind, though I'm guessing for Altaira will still be a challenge for proper selection and support. Best of luck as you seek out what you need.
Thanks. Yes, my understanding is that Altaira is actually more available with brick and mortar shops than the Omega signal cables, and some kind of consultation process goes on with online orders. (For example: you can find the Altairas at Music Direct, but you can't order them without a phone call)

The Omega XLR and Speaker cables only became available for order by dealers within the past week. Altaira has been available for a number of months now. But the process of obtaining them is quite a bit more involved, as you've undoubtedly discovered (the "consultation" process in your case, for online orders, where no "local" dealer is extant). And then there's the new Möbius Cable Suspension System, which appears to be some sort of new configuration of the existing Cable Elevator which is more amenable for long speaker cables. The prior suspension system served shorter and heavier power cables. The new Möbius is clearly better for maneuvering about.

DF-SS is not for heavy cables. I would wager Moebius is better suited with 3+2 straps.

I have 18 DF-SS in my setup and those straps are getting longer and less nimble. One snapped right off.

Slow, expensive upgrades. I think i will start with power cables.

Good choice. For others, like us, who would need to ease into this new price bracket, here is what Shunyata recommends:

"As for hierarchy of upgrades, we all agree that the following represents the best course to take:

  1. Power - wall first, amps and lastly front-end
  2. Speaker cables
  3. Analog interconnects"

I auditioned the Omega speaker cables plus the Sigma v2 end of October against my AQ Thunderbird. While the Sigma vs. Thunderbird could be argued as a matter of taste. The AQ having that clear, energetic AQ house-sound, while the Sigma has all the Shunyata attributes of detailed, yet-unfatiguing and „organic“. But comparing the Omega vs Sigma, the Sigma in my opinion sounds somewhat blurry, warmish and the Omega just more realistic, detailed with quite a lot bigger soundstage. Bottom line: Thunderbird and Sigma v2 are both excellent cables. The Omega however is truly superb. If you can afford it, I think it‘s well worth the extra cost. So, enjoy your new beauties!! … and please report what you think.

Agree with MusicFellow that the Omega's are superb. In comparison to the Sigmas the Omegas are more articulate, more dynamic, even lower noise floor, without a hint of veil or haze. The are not colored, but faithful to the signal.

My local Nordost dealer brought over a complete loom of Odin and compared with my loom of Omega. In less than a couple of minutes, he shook his head, packed up his Odins and admitted the Omegas were superior in every aspect of sound quality. Importantly, the speaker cables were downstream from (a) Omega interconnects and (b) Sigma power cords attached to an Everest with an Omega from Everest to wall outlet, i.e. the Omega speaker cables had an excellent "signal" to convey.

With respect to the need for a consultation with the Altaira, this is to determine which version of the device you need and to insure you fully benefit from the unit. Richard, at Shunyata, is extremely friendly and helpful, will not "over sell", but rather knowledgeably advise what is best for your system. I implemented his suggestion and certainly benefited greatly.

I can confirm this 100%. Richard is the friendliest and most down to earth customer support you can imagine. He never wants to oversell, takes all the time for a comprehensive reply, checks with Caelin, Grant and the manufacturing department for all the questions should he not be able to answer them himself or just to give you a second opinion. The dictionary/ Wikipedia should have a photo of Richard as a best practice for excellent customer service. :)

Merry Christmas to all!!

I really enjoy my three Omega digital cables. Each made a very positive impact in my digital playback system.

+1 on Richard's support.
