Thank you all for your help, I got a hold of a 07x and should be arriving this Friday. Took me some courage to pull the trigger as it’s an older unit from 2018
It will be fed by a totaldac, 2 Sonic Frontiers DACs, a Musical Fidelity phono stage, which in turn will feed a First Watt J2 and my headphone amps. Excited to have this quality piece of kit after months of deliberations.

07x arrived today :)

Remote is programmed with both 07x and CSiB, yet 07x preset doesn’t work with it. Only the CSiB does, can’t find the remote code for it either.

Anyone know what it is, or a workaround as Coda is not listed in the remote database. Tried to program my Logitech Harmony and no matches either.

I’d call Doug Dale at CODA. He will help you out I’m sure.

What is your experience of the preamp?

What is your experience of the preamp?
It’s been great, was the missing piece in my system and haven’t felt the need to upgrade anything else since I got it.

It’s pairs well with my First Watt J2, and am able to use the processor out to connect to my headphone amp too.
Plenty of inputs for my DACs and phono stage and having the ability to match each input level feature I wanted in a pre-amp.
It’s dead silent, no weird interference or ground loops.

The remote is nothing special, in fact it’s a bit overkill and outdated. I ended up programming my harmony remote by learning its commands as Coda is not in the database.

I would also add the build quality is top notch, it’s a good weight and has little resonance in the chassis.

I've had the Coda s5.5 since August 2024 and it is simply an amazing amplifier for my system. Since I use the Legacy Audio Focus XD's with the internal bass amplification I don't need a lot of power, yet this thing shines. Everything I do to my system I can hear , good or bad. LOL. I just added a new Denafrips Terminator 15th DAC and man it just lets everything through that this DAC has to offer. I don't have a preamp because the Legacy Wavelet II handles that duty as well as outboard crossover and room correction. I got my amp forum member vinylvalet

Any of you #16 owners also have a SPL S800 amp or the Schitt Tyr monos. If so, how does it compare to the #16? I do not expect them to be as good overall but are there any similarities. I am also considering the Schitt Wotan, but I doubt anyone has heard that new stereo amp.

Any other suggestions for a cheap amp for my Yamaha NS5000 speakers. It likes a bit of power. I currently use my CODA #16 with the NS5000, and it is great, but changes are in the air (RAAL 1995 Immanis headphones).

I want to stay in the $2k new or used price range for the replacement amp.

@yyzSB Did you finally get the Raal Immanis? How did it sound with the CODA and the AHB2?

@shawnf I had the Immanis | Magna | CA-1a in the house for a week (Thanksgiving). I also had the RAAL VM-1a and the Schitt Mjolner preamp | Schitt Aegir v1 amp. I used the RAAL T1-1b amp interface to connect the Aegir to the phones. The TI-1b is a lot better than the original amp adapter that RAAL sold. That one needed an amp like the CODA #16. The much better TI-1b requires much less power, and my Aegir v1 at 20 watts is near the top limit of power for the safe use of the adapter.

Both setups used the incredible Schitt Yggi+ OG DAC.

The Immanis is an experience, A huge sound taking the SR1a sound to new levels of greatness. However, it does not sound 2-channel-ish like the SR1a. There is more of everything on the Immanis. It was great with both my amps. There is a lot of sound leakage on the Immanis.

Even though I loved the Immanis, I decided to repurchase the SR1a that I had sold in anticipation of buying the Immanis. The Immanis was too distracting for me to get work done. I use the phones for late night work, like right now. It was also too loud and would disturb my family that are sleeping close to my home office.

The SR1a is not as good overall as the Immanis but is it great in its own way and that 2-channel like sound stage is something I like more than the headphone presentation of the Immanis. The Immanis gets close to the presentation but not as good. I am a 2-channel person so that is my subjective preference. A lot of people like the Immanis for the opposite reason.

I did have an AHB2 in the house with the Immanis. It was good with the warm Mjolnir v3 preamp but nothing spectacular. It is also too powerful with the TI-1b adapter. The Schitt Aegir was a better match.

Even though Alex in Serbia designed the RAAL using the AHB2, do not use the AHB2 with RAAL phones it is not a great match. With my SR1a it is a bad match, with the Immanis is OK but the amp is too powerful.

Saying all of this I may still get the Immanis because I moved the VM-1a amp to the bedroom, and I can close a door there to listen late at night. Though relaxing like that is a rare treat.

You might look into this unit from Lyngdorf if you haven't bought yet. I have not heard it but I have their MP-60 and it sounds AMAZING. RoomPerfect is the secret sauce and the unit offers RP https://lyngdorf.steinwaylyngdorf.com/lyngdorf-tdai-1120/ TDAI-1120

I actually researched this tech a few years ago and was considering one of the Lyndorf units and demoed it. The others were Linn and Anthem.

However, I realized that audio gear is going to be limited in processing power for DSP and a computer is the ultimate DSP engine. My solution only works for digital steaming unlike the Lyndorf, Linn, Anthem et al. That is OK and what I used were Convolution filters running on my ROON Core server. This server has no monitor | keyboard | mouse and is under a bed in my guest bedroom. I use fibre optic cable to make the gear before the fibre inconsequential with regards to analog noise.

The Convolution filters are applied before the DAC and these filters were created remotely for me by a DSP genius from this company.

Accurate Sound CA

DSP Book by Mitch Barnett

I used this to great affect when I had Thiel CS3.7 speakers in a small room and sat off centre. Today that room is my child's bedroom and I no longer have the Thiels. My new office space does not need DSP. I am curious about having Mitch test out my Livingroom, even though it sounds great today. I just do not have time.

OK, fair enough. Convolution filters and such are out of my league, tbh. I don't fool around for DSP and such. I like to keep it simple. I DO have my dedicated music server in the Antipodes K41. Gem of a piece that replaced my SGC which replaced my Mac Mini. Roon core resides there (K41) but honestly, I seldom use Roon. My go to for digital to analog is Squeeze server which they support better than another premium manufacturer, to the best of my knowledge. And for the first time ever I actually listened to native files on the Lyngdorf for STEREO only. Incredible! Why? RoomPerfect. You do not need any of that stuff with RP, IMO. In fact, it sounds so good I am seriously considering purchase of the McIntosh MEN220. Thought process is that if RP does such an extraordinary job with an SSP that "does it all," I imagine it would be AWESOME to drop in between my preamp and amplifier. Problem is that it is SO expensive. Crazy expensive.

What I am talking about is what you are referring with Room Perfect (which is DSP) but the convolution stuff is DSP on steroids. The MEN220 is very old tech (the DSP stuff). I looked at that too when I was looking at RoomPerfect, Space Optimization, and the one from Anthem.

Ah, OK. And yes, I do know that RoomPerfect is not new but understand (according to so many ppl I know) that it has stood up to the test of time. In other words, yeah, it maybe be 20 years old but for many of us it "still works." But I get that there is always something new that could be "bigger and better." In any case, good luck to you!
