I got my Steinberg set from Amazon today. Disappointed with the high pressing number, but visually all three records look flawless. Hope they sound that way!
Oh, @Neil.Antin, one other thing.
It depends. If I do a lot of cleaning in sequence over a matter of several or weeks - IOW with the cover off the tank for very long periods, then I’ll have to top off the IPA after maybe a week or so. But some factors - I have a top off jug of pre-mixed...
@Neil.Antin, if I have dirty records that need a pre-clean on my vacuum RCM before going into the USM, can I do the Liquinox mix, vacuum it off, and then drop it right into the USM, or do I still need to do the water rinse before putting it into the ultrasonic?

Yes Neil I did buy an IPA hydrometer and I do check its concentration regularly. And you’re right of course - that does evaporate. :) But hmm, I hadn’t thought about the water evaporation (if of any significance) increasing the concentration of the Tergitol.
Unfortunate, although I guess I wouldn’t be too unhappy with a Grand Cru. ;) Mike seems likes he has real excitement behind getting Benz back into notice by the audio world.
I’m surprised no one has yet commented on Benz-Micro finally getting a new distributor for the U.S. - and making a show presence after so many years. I was very happy to meet with Mike Fajen of Sierra Sound. They had two tables each outfitted with two arms so showing four different Benz carts...
Meaning to say - I mixed up a batch of Tergitol a couple of months ago in anticipation of the upcoming purchase of a bunch of records. Time kind of delayed that, and between then and now I've only been able to clean about 12 records. Not enough to cause any weird growths to develop in the tank...
@Neil.Antin, the 99% IPA was only marginally effective, and I’m being charitable when I say that. So this morning I covered the offending area with a blob of Titebond Original and stuck a stick on to it. So tomorrow morning I just use the stick and hope the blob of glue comes up with it? No prep...
Good write up. Personally I've seen (among those who've done EQ) far too many rooms that measure dead flat in FR. To my ears they've all sounded terrible.
I had a 40 some odd year old Craftsman screwdriver that I got from my dad. It had finally given up the ghost back when Craftsman tools were still Craftsman tools. Brought it in to the store, they gave me a brand new one that was an exact duplicate of the one I handed in. My equally old (older at...
@Neil.Antin, can I use 99% IPA for this, is is that concentration too dangerous to the record surface? As for glue, all I have is Titebond III Ultimate and Elmers Glue-All.
It didn’t come off with Neil’s Liquinox based solution, nor with AI’s enzyme based cleaner. It almost looks like it’s a discoloration in the vinyl, but I can’t be sure.
PGA, this is an impressive but also somewhat interesting (to me anyway) result. It looks like you’ve got boosts of around 5dB or more between about 50-80Hz. That seems like a lot of boost at such low frequencies. I thought that was a no-no.
