Wow.... that was a story! Glad you're on the mend. I don't have to say, the older we get, the more attention we have to pay to our bodies. Your body will tell you when something is wrong.
The easiest software that is out there is called Reaper. There is another called Audacity. It used to be free and there is a lot of on-line support if you need it. I know at one time, Andreas Koch had recording software that you could use with his A/D converters that would record in DSD. As...
I've done many of these graphs when I had 6-8 A/D converters doing tape transfers for David Wilson and HDtracks. There are many variables to take into consideration but you try so hard to keep those variables to a minimum. I was using software by Algorithmix and Cedar and doing all my...
Just noticed lately on the Magnepan website, there are a lot fewer options for trim colors. I really loved a Blue set of 30.7 speakers I saw some time ago, but they don't offer it. Looks like the 1.7i that I have does not come in the cool Red Aluminum trim any more.
I would say if you are using subs with large mains, I would highly encourage you to look into the JL Audio CR-1 x-over. Completely analog with great build quality!
Any Mastering engineer worth their metal uses an analog EQ... sometimes several!
Using a tape machine... you're running through an analog EQ for NAB/IES/AES.... same for TT using RIAA..
As someone above said..... Fix Your Room..!!
The only custom room that I've heard and liked, was Winston Ma's.
Most of the good sounding rooms that I have been in are just normal (symmetrical) rooms with acoustical treatment.
Pyramix with Hapi/Horus is a steep learning curve. I've used it since '05 and have had no issues. The community is a great resource if you get into a bind. So far, it's been rock solid.
Not including your spouse/family/SO or wanting to learn more about their passions are missed opportunity in life. I really feel for the folks that live separate lives. Time can not be purchased with any amount of $$. I've been spoiled (and blessed) with a spouse that purchased and actually loves...
I had an EMT JPA66 MkII phono pre when I was doing LP/laquer transfers for the labels. Was a fine piece of kit. If you're doing this as a business, it is a no-brainer. But for just listening as an audiophile, keep it simple.
A friend of mine bought a Millennia NSEQ-2, which I also had, and used...
This is some really good advice. IMO.... subs should be used first to fix room problems. And yes, use AT LEAST TWO.... if not more. Subs should not bring attention to themselves. You shouldn't be able to hear them.... . until you turn them off! Another thing I like is using an outboard x-over to...
It all depends on how deep ($$$$) you want to get into this. If you are looking for stand alone recorders, then I would hope on flea-bay and get a Korg DSD-DAC-10R or any of the other Korg/Tascam units available.
aLLeARS suggested a great option as well. I've used the Pinot ADC and Playback...
This works on the other end as well. "Most" larger studios record to their Digidesign/Avid Pro Tools DAW... Digidesign converters, especially the earlier ones, were not that great. I still wouldn't use them to record/playback.......
